The strap of my watch has come off several times
-
Hello,
I have a problem with my suunto Vertical wich I didn’t have with my Suunto 5 :The strap on my Suunto watch seems really fragile; it has already fallen off 4 times during soccer matches. I also do a lot of water sports, and I’m afraid it might come off during a fall, which would result in me losing my watch for good.
I only bought it a few months ago, and I never had this problem with my Suunto 5 watch, which had a strap screwed to the case.
Do you have a solution to this problem? It feels like the attachment to the case isn’t very secure…Thank you !

@azmo78 Wow, I’ve had them since they came out, I’ve been through a lot with them, and this has never happened to me before. I can hardly even imagine that it’s possible. Have you tried a different strap?
-
@azmo78 Has never happened to any of my Suunto watches.
Are you using the original strap?
As the pins for Suunto original Straps are thicker than most 3rd party straps…
So Suunto original should be stronger than others and 3rd party might sit loose in the holes -
Yes I’m using the original strap, sold with the watch by suunto…
I wonder if there could be a manufacturing defect with the bracelet, because it’s happening more and more often: the first time after about 2 months, the second time 2 weeks later, and twice during my previous match yesterday ! -
How often do you change straps?
I hope this doesn’t offend you, but could there be a user mistake and the pins wheren’t in the holes quite right?
(Have to say, I do find the pins on current straps quite flimsy. My old forerunner 935 had much more sturdier pins. You had to use a screwdriver for that one. But on the other hand, the 3rd party quickfix connections couldn’t always be trusted)

Don’t worry, I’m not offended !
I never change straps, I only have to put it back when it comes off. I might have put the pins the wrong way during my soccer game last time (because I put it on my wrist without watching), but other time, I’m very careful that it’s right in place.
I’m wondering if I could find something to prevent the pins from retracting… -
@azmo78 and it is coming off at the connection of the strap to the watch?
Can you double check, if the retractable pin is moving out properly (there is a spring) and also that the holes in the watch lugs are free of debris? -
Yes, it’s coming off at the connection of the strap to the watch.
I just checked but the pin is moving properly and there is nothing in the watch lugs.
Actually, I don’t know if, when it comes off, it’s the pin that retracts or if the bar is bending a bit…
