Suunto Vertical 1 – Backlight stays on continuously
-
A few days ago, I ran into an issue with my Suunto Vertical 1 watch. Due to a synchronization problem, I had to restart it. Ever since the restart, the backlight has been on continuously, and unfortunately, the issue persists.
Since then, I’ve tried restarting the watch several times and turning it off and back on again, but nothing has helped.
It’s particularly annoying when wearing the watch at night. The constant light is so distracting that I’ve stopped wearing it overnight for the time being.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any way to fix it, or do I just have to wait for a software update, which could take who knows how long? -
I am interested in this had a friend of mine having the same issue and could not solve it.
What do others report ?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I had the same. But after turning the watch off and on it was fixed
-
It happens to me some time to time but a restart fix it until now
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I have the opposite. The backlight does not turn on when doing a rise to wake
-
I had a problem where the display wouldn’t light up only during activity. Pausing it, navigating through the menu, and then resuming always helped. Black magic - so now debug it

-
Had it - but was gone after turning backlight completely off and on again…

It happens sometimes on my 9 Peak Pro. In my case, going into settings to turn on the standby light toggle and then turning it off again resets things and the light then goes off. But sounds like that’s not working with the Vertical in this case.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos This is an issue since 2.50.26. I originally described the behavior here - https://forum.suunto.com/topic/14502/backlight-bug-2.50.26
Others have also posted about it:

There are also complaints sprinkled within other topics as well.
@adamhert The short story is that backlight behavior is broken and may have something to do with entering the activity menu, but then backing out without actually starting the activity. For most of us, going into the setting menu and toggling “Backlight” on and off again fixes it. A soft reset usually does the trick as well. Seems like you’ve already done this without luck, so your issue must be deeper and have something to do with your specific actions around the sync problem.

I randomly faced this issue with some sport modes
now I have a routine of backlight high/low , wrist on/off that’s more of a voodoo practice then a fix
-
Have/had de same several times, softreset fixes it in my case.
-
Same on this side with a 9Peak pro, happens roughly every 6 months or so
Soft reset did NOT solve the issue, last time (2 weeks ago) I had to hard reset the watch -
Thank you for the suggestions. A reset fixed it.
