Got my Run last week and I am really enjoying it so far. I have been trying to figure out the best way to set up interval sessions though. Do most of you build them in the Suunto app or just use the watch’s basic interval mode? Would love to hear what works for you.

For me, it’s easy. I train at an athletics club twice a week. Once a week on a track. Keeping distance on a track is easy. There is a target in time for different distances (mostly we do 200m to 800m on a track). Really al you need is a stopwatch (but my race s is convenient for recording and looking back)
The other evening my trainer comes up with loops we run as interval. Or bridges. We also have a peace of road with 100 meter markers on it. We do mainly longer intervals outside the track (600m to 2000m) The most difficult one is when we do not do distance intervals but minutes intervals. Then I have to keep an eye on my watch.

I have 2 custom run sportmodes. One with 1km autolap, for endurance runs and races. One with manual lap for interval training. Press lap at the start and the end of an interval. And the suunto app is one of the few (in fact only) app I know that easily shows minimal heartrate. That I need to judge how far and how fast my heart rate drops between intervals and gives a good impression of my shape.

I once tried to make a structured workout for the minutes intervals. It was a awful experience on my race s.

On the Run 1, the only way to set things up is via the Suunto app — the settings then sync to the watch. You can’t customize the data screens directly on the device. Also, there’s no option to import external training plans (like Suunto Coach AI Training Plans or TrainingPeaks).
