      This was actually a 65 m freedive but I got a >61m instead.

I really can’t understand why an otherwise such a great watch has a 61 m limit for freediving. I really hope this is not a hardware limitation and that Suunto can change it with a future software update.

      Please do.

      We’re talking about a €750 multisports /dive watch/computer, not an entry-level product.

For serious freedivers, this is exactly the kind of limitation that can affect reviews, ratings and ultimately the decision to buy. It would be a real shame for such a good watch to be held back by what hopefully is just a software limit.

Looking forward to your reply. Many thanks.

@gpanagiotou As the Max. Operation Depth is given 60m in the specifications, I assume it’s a hardware limitation.

@johann.fuehrer It uses basically the same sensor as the nautic, therefore I assume it’s not

I checked. The suunto ocean is certified to work on 60m so that is why the cap there.

60 m (EN 13319) is listed at its feature specs on the official site.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Kalispera Dimitri. Thank you for the reply. I’m just wondering to know whether this cap actually can be removed through a future update, or should I abandon any hope about that… 🙂And whether it’s actually SAFE to bring it down with me below 61, despite the dive log display.
                Thanks in advance

@gpanagiotou Well, in a difficult position to answer this and kalispera.

Since the certification is there at 60m the software cap has to be there unfortunately.

From what I understand Waterproof to 100m is not the same as EN 13319 standards and that is the main reason.

I think the nautic is the more “pro” vs the recreational version of the diving watches unfortunately. (at 80m freedive).

I know perhaps from the last name that you are a beast of a diver as my sister that does freediving clued me so I am very “shy” to answer what should work best here. And honoured to talk to you.

However I am sure suunto wont remove that limitation SW wise.

From my experience supporting here, diving a bit more than 60m but not pressing any button might be ok.

In one sentence : “So even if it might work, we can’t ensure the accuracy and durability past that.”

Ping me anytime if you need any info

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos A bit more, so not up to 100m /10 atm? Thank you for your kind words Dimitri and for the clarifications. Much appreciated. I’d appreciate though if you could reply to this last query, which is crucial for me, as the ocean have many other qualities other than the depth measurement (hr sensor for example). So you’re basically saying that it can’t be trusted for water resistance up to 100 m?
