Poor battery management
-
This morning I woke up and unexpectedly my race s only had 7% battery left.
7% isn’t enough for the run I planned, so I charged the watch while I prepared. When I started my actvity the watch reported 26%. (do have to say, the race s does charge fast. or report that is charge fast)
Now for the fun part: when I returned after a 1 hour run (default gnss settings, no aod, stryd connected, polar oh1+ connected, no mapping) the watch reported 36%
(reported it to suunto support, but don’t expect much from there)

@elbee you aren’t the only one who is suffering this issue; it’s a long-pending issue, and no one is bothered to respond to this and when. Suddenly, my watch hardly gives 5 days’ backup without any outdoor activities, just normal daily use as a watch and no notifications, HR on or GPS usage.
And in this forum, I am sure there are no Suunto engineers around to check and update people, and support is horrible via chat or email.

It is one of the several serious issues I have (apart from some minors). Reported them all, but suunto support is totally incapable.
Suunto hasn’t chased me away yet, like garmin did with the forerunner 965 to me, but buying a suunto again? Not likely.
Their watches look nice and have the features I want. Their software is just as bad as any other brand. But their support on software bugs is terrible. -
@elbee can’t agree more; eventually, we don’t need fancy watches and functionalities, but a robust basic set of functions before adding frills.

@elbee Today’s experience: just charged the watch to 100% and used it normally, without even checking the time; in an hour, the battery dropped by 5%… I am sure something weird is going on with the watch’s firmware. Engineers must look into it.
I changed my old watch, the Ambit, a month back, and it was in the drawer without any use; it still has a charge of 20%

I reported it to suunto support several times.
They either act as if they never heard such problem before.
Or they say they have reported it to the developers and ask what the current status is. The. You never hear from them.
On repeated inquiries about the status they claim they have asked again, but you never hear about any update. Not even that the engineers are looking into it.
This will never be solved for the race s, is my belief.

@elbee I tried too and never heard back from them. While chatting with online support, they said, “OMG, never ever has anyone reported this.” Once one of the guys wanted me to upgrade to another watch.
