@slashas And in yours opinion which will be the new features of next FW?
-
@luís-pinto only Suunto knows.
As @slashas said should be this quarter.
Be patient and you will have the pleasure to discover the new features soon -
Strange they remove that Suunto 3 will be launched at 4th April… Now they say “Suunto 3 Fitness will be launched globally later this spring”. So it means that can be launched in June. Personally i don’t care. Delays with Suunto App and NFC pay?

My watch is working well for what I need. As I transition into more ultramarathon training for this summer I would like to have structured workouts implemented. That is the sole major upgrade I think a lot of folks are looking for…and my wish is that Suunto sneaks in power functionality that looks just like HR, so we can use our zone screens for either power or HR, depending on the sport. One other minor thing is to get the waypoints implemented with names. With that I would not need any other updates.

@brad_olwin Globally agree! Just adding one more point, support for Galileo. But related with S3 it is very strange this change of plans or maybe an error with first publication…

Finally Informatin is out, they will start sending in 25th of April

As a curiosity they are showing Suunto App as the app companion of the watch

Yep. The S3F will only be used with the S3F. Perhaps that will explain now why some features are stalling for the big Spartans.
-
And it has connected GPS
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos yes I saw, it’s another target of the market

I hope suunto can make some nice cash of this and then we can get more features!
-
But what does that mean?

Darn I mean the Suunto app

Gerald has a very nice review up. Too bad, the S3F can use a footpod but will not display power. It can however, track GPS using the phone app. While not for us, this may indeed turn out to be a good seller for Suunto. Gerald Review S3F
-
Oh, very interesting!
That’s also means some “final” version of the SuuntoApp might’ve around the corner?
A few minutes ago the email came with a preorder link and some nice pics of the new watch!
Exciting times! -
@brad_olwin thanks for mentioning the review as I was looking for one in case already written by someone but with no success.

I have more info and will have to ask Gerald about this. The specs for the watch say it will deliver Power with the Stryd sensor. This disagrees with Gerald’s review and we will have to ask him about that. One troubling note…there is NO integration with Movescount. IMHO this means MC is going away and all of our data will be ported to the current app. I would find this very troubling and concerning as the app does not support large screens (iPad) and there is no web interface for the app. Sure wish we knew what Suunto’s plans are and had a roadmap. It would change the importance of features if I knew MC was going away eventually. However, if this means MC will be tailored to more serious athletes that would be great and I would even be willing to pay a subscription if it could replace Training Peaks. It would be simpler to have everything in one place. Oh well…I guess we will just have to fumble around in the dark as we have been doing for the last 6 months or so…

Lets take this from start.
I think Gerrald hit a bug or did not test it ok. I know there was a bug for the intensity target when the Stryd is paired as a pod and not as power meter (as a pod also gets power).
Ill come back to this with details.Regarding the MC let me shed some insight on this.
The MC integration with the Suunto app will come having MC as a dependency. That means that from the Suunto app you will connect to MC and not the way around.
This indicates that MC to Suunto app is a service and a relaltion similar to Strava with the Suunto app. Suunto app will not replace MC any time soon. And if that would have been the case you would already know. You don’t flip a switch in 6 months on a product. That said, the reasons that S3F will not ever connect to MC is because the features are not compatible. S3F has data, screens, coaching etc that do not fit either in the MC web or apps.
Most important reason is that in combination with the target market, the S3F needs to be app standalone for now, no need for old MC apps (that support tons of devices eg even diving) and has to have a modern cleaner interface. For your knowledge the suunto app works differently with the S3F etc due to extra features like fitness level, coaching and connected GPS.
Does this make it clearer a bit?
FYI the target market and people in this forum do not use a pc. (click the link to see the debate)

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Thanks man, I already told you I was an old guy, I am really a dinosaur. I use my mac (I don’t own a pc either:) every day most of the day for work so… I am used to using either the Mac or the iPhone. I do like moving most functions to the phone and glad to hear that the app will work as a service to MC. Still, I find it rather amazing that the S3F is not compatible with MC.
