@surfboomerang Firstbeat black box magic. Their algorithm needs to have high confidence to start reporting VO2max. So it is very dependent on the quality of HR and GPS data.
-
VO2Max needs to determine the baseline (first value)
- Good HR quality
- Good HR scale (ie from slow to fast how it reacts)
- Good terrain ie not many ups and downs etc
- More than 15 mins running with the above conditions
FB tries to wipe out all erratic data and play on the safe side.
Also the Vo2max is per watch and not via SA -> Watch etc .
-
And this morning got my watch on your way e-mail can’t wait, I bet this will be the first in Mexico at least from people in this forum or at least the white titanium one

@surfboomerang two fingers from the wristbone, tight but not to the point of pain. It matches both Polar OH1 and Suunto smartsensor for me, and it has been doing it for months (not from day 1, but it improved a lot) while running, doing slow/fast/sprints etc… Max difference is usually 1/2 bpm, because of different positioning (wrist vs. chest vs. upper arm). Nowadays is very very good for me also for walking/hiking, and it has always been good on the bike (but on the bike I wear it less tight, as the hand is holding the bike and tight watch + closed hand may create more issues with blood flow).
For GPS I have been using Galileo in recent weeks, with incredible results (but then, some other people always have issues with Galileo). Glonass for me does not really work better than GPS only. GPS only is fine, but tracks are not as good (for me) moving slowly (e.g. walking). I haven’t used Beidou in few weeks, but I did one track Cooper test a month or so ago, with Beidou, and not only the track was very good, distance with autolaps on the track were so close to 400 meters for each lap (403/402/406 etc.).
Just my two cents
And for me, I hate wearing a watch near my elbow!!! And, my arms are thick so I cannot wear the watch very high, it always slips down, so I wear the S9P near the wrist bone and I am getting HR that closely matches the belt. In fact, I get battery battery without the belt on the S9P so my belt is likely to sit unused. As for GPS, GPS only works extremely well for me, the S9P tracks beat the baro almost all of the time.

No one did more runs and tests ?
Very small run yesterday and my wife wore it (me SSU).
For her, for sure, some much comfort from Ambit1 and her small wrist.
OHR was good (but without comparison with any sensor), but, again, so comfortable not to wear the belt.
Only not so good thing :GPS track is really not that good. Just on par with SSU.
For sure I will give it other tests, me wearing it. For day time, I totally forget it.Conclusion : good+, not perfect, but just one workout (and GPS wise only).
Question (silly but…) : where should I find other Gnss systems? In Sport mode options (can find it)?

Look under Settings / Navigation in the main menu

@дима-мельниченко
@NickK
Thanks guys.
Really thought it was in Sport mode option. 🤪 -
@mff73 It might have been there in the old days when Spartans roamed the earth.

I am (was) Spartan user, so I lost some (few) points. .
But, as good student, I read the manual, and two quotes seems a little odd.
Truth or memories?And
Left side or front side? -

This was possible with the S9 through Movescount but was removed in SA unfortunately. Now some sport mode record altitude but sometimes that isn’t very useful

I knew this, even my Spartan had this one but MC is dead for such watches.
What is the goal, for a brand new watch model, to let users, who read the manual, think that they can change this setting ?
I was more ironic than really asking if it was true. Bug in the S9P manual in think (except if SA is expected to deliver this feature soon). -
@isazi Did you already report the black/white line issue with the white outdoor watchface?
I selected the blue (light theme) outdoor watch face. This makes the sunrise/set dial blue and the pressure green. In the middle there is a black indicator for the current values
If you tap on it, it first shows sunrise/set dial only, also with a black line as indicator
if you tap once more, it shows the pressure dial only, but this time with a white line as indicator of the current value.Is this expected behavior or a bug?

Today first day of charge the watch with 19% of battery since Tuesday at 11:00AM with sleep tracking and ohr all day. And impressive that less than 15 minutes and now charged 75%
-
@surfboomerang a separate topic just for “watch face issues” would be better, so we can keep track and forward everything to Suunto.
-
@omunoz
Feel the same, charging is really fast.
I imagine that with little powerbank, one could charge on the go during some pauses in long expected activities.
