Suunto 9 Peak

@isazi Good idea. I’ll open one soon.
-
@mff73 yes but mind the activity capacity.
Some people abuse this function to record like 200h of data. The watch can hold up to ~50h of 1s data (belt pods etc).
-
The S9P looks like a toy compared to the SSU… now I just have to hold out at job somehow
-
I think I’m unlucky, the backlight in my S9P has a shade of magenta, I compared to my old SSU and I can clearly see the difference, especially with the green color
someone had the same issue? -
@aroo7
Maybe a comparison picture would help -
@sartoric
Green is not green more like blue -
@aroo7 Truth be told, green in S9 is also kind of like aqua. Did you make those photos in neutral light?
-
@aroo7
Same issue outside in the sun ?
Could be some reflection due to artificial lights and sapphire glass -
Guys, I figured out what the S9P is like. Suunto Lumi only with new hardware
-
@aroo7 all transreflective screens have a little of those issues. If this is under a lot of backlight it’s ok. If it’s under little/none it depends
-
@dimitrios-kanellopoulos the white dial is highlighted in pink light. It looks a bit like night mode
-
@sartoric and @NickK it is not a reflection. the dial is highlighted in pink light, it is not visible outside in the sun

First impressions on the S9P replacing my S9Baro titanium:
DESIGN
- It is really very very beautiful but I find it too small as its screen. I think that for my wrist size the ideal would be a watch of about 46mm with a bigger screen for my eyes
On the other hand, for my wife’s wrist who also ordered one, it is perfect! - Very pleasant to wear
- The screen is of much better quality than the S9B
FUNCTIONALITY
- During my test, I left at an altitude of 84m and I made 5 accelerations of 30’’ with recovery of 45’’ on a small circuit to test the GPS precision and with the OHR:
- When I came back to the starting point, my altitude was 82m
- The GPS track (GPS+QZSS+BEIDOU) seems to be really good as you can see on the circuit training I did 8 times. - The pace curve shows the accelerations well - My heart rate was a little higher than usual at the same pace, about 5-10 beats above normal, which is too much. On the other hand, the 5 accelerations are clearly visible and the watch seems quite responsive. I will continue to test this because it seems promising but there is still room for improvement in terms of reliability. It’s useless for me if the accuracy is not improved.
- SpO2 is not regular enough and the fluctuations are important when comparing two measurements one after the other, which makes this feature not very useful if it lacks reliability…
- I’m waiting for a feature to do a recovery test based on heart rate variability.-
I don’t know yet if I’ll test the ORH on my run this week end because I don’t trust it… to see

Same. But I find the display clearer to read, it has more contrast and coating on sapphire is less reflective compared to S9B.
-
Mine arrived today. I like the screen! It’s much crisper than the S5: here are some pics side by side. It’s really a „light“ watch compared even with the S5
With backlight
Without backlight outdoors
Comparing „the green“
Will do some walking now- running and cycling at the weekend is planned .

I don’t mean light reflection ON the screen but through the screen due to backlight and indoor light.
Check the images up here … do you see the same reddish colors on natural (sun) light ? -
-
@sartoric yes - it was a bit tight Just got it a few minutes before the pictures and I still “struggle” which hole in the strap to choose. But I like the new “pin” to fix the strap - kept it a bit looser on short first test walk. Really very readable display and almost not noticeable on the wrist!
-
Looks realy « mini » this new peak ! It must be bizar in the first times. We got used to having Ambits, Spartans or S9 at wirst but in there are thick.
Tell me: if i link a S9P with my SA, will i lose my customs sport mode ?
Can i create a new custom sport mode if i haven’t a Suunto watch linked to SA ? -

Yes

No
And if your watch is busy syncing or so SA warns you that you that your watch is busy and you can’t save your sport mode customizations.
