Suunto 9 Peak Pro?

users do not have to perform divination anymore to decide which system will they use, the watch decides.
exactely. My SSU is only glonass capable, and i tried it few times at the beginning, not sure to see difference, but maybe just not the right day/position, to see any gain.
Thus, it would have been divination, as you said, to enable it one day or the other.
Added the fact that on old watches, battery consumption for extra satellite system was increased.Good, really good.

Is power working in power walking mode when you trail run? (Steep low cadence) or it goes to zero?
If it does, who needs stryd complications
-
@lexterm77 it does not go to zero while walking, but I only tested power on roads, no trails. For trails, ask @Brad_Olwin
-
@isazi do you know if the values are somehow similar to those given by stryd or like shifted by 50W or something like garmin?
-
@taziden close to Stryd, of course not matching exactly because there is no running power standard.
-
@isazi yes, of course. Thx!

@isazi If “dez” is Desfit, he did review the Suunto 9 Peak. I’m not a fan of his channel but I do remember this review: https://youtu.be/q0xYbvZztIA

I think Stryd does not account for springiness of legs but “metabolic” cost, but I think metabolic cost has much more variables that can be accounted with a motion sensor and they are assumed to be average.
I don’t think power will be standardized any time soon. You need at least volume, density, morphology, interaction between your feet and surface (metabolic cost of running on sand>solid ground). Vs load cell with cycling which is makes it so simple.

@Egika Thanks that is helpful. I like the auto scroll. Wish ascent was there
Me too! -
Your thoughts on wrist power while power walking on S9PP?
What is useful response time for hill repeats? -

@mountainChris I believe it is only for running/trail running sports mode.
Is it possible to show both power data (wrist and stryd) on same activity?
If you use the S+ app, yes but I doubt this will work for fine release. I have a lot of trail running with Stryd and the Pro, the are very close. I can provide graphs if you wish.
-
@isazi Stryd app is yet to appear in Suunto + store
Yesterday I tested cadence coach S+ and it was not bad, it was alerting me about high cadence around 92 and when it came the time to do some manual laps during my run I learned this activates the run 1 min at desired target cadence to set it.

It works very similarly to Stryd so yes, power walking is recorded. Values for endurance running and power hiking on Pro match Stryd well for me. We are still working on wrist power so likely to be even better when release firmware is available. I have not used my Stryd much until this testing and I find I use wrist power much more than I did the Stryd because of being another gadget, battery life, water ingress, etc. of Stryd

Very similar to Stryd NOT like Garmin!

What is useful response time for hill repeats?Response time is excellent. So far my only issue max watts on hard trail hill repeats is a bit lower with 9 Pro than Stryd. We are still testing this so it is likely to improve. I can live with this and tweak a bit my watt zones at the high end if necessary but it won’t be much. After final firmware release I will either sell my Stryd or likely it will rest in a box. I won’t use it unless I am testing

Yes please, hill repeats 30s and low cadence steep climbs. I know new stryd is up in Nov, they claim to help reduce lag by 5x. And is there a breakdown of form (gravity fighting and vertical) and fwd motion?

Yes, I would get rid of it, when It rains it is completely useless.
