@isazi i found a cosmetic bug when in hikih basic sport mode. If are on screen showing total distance in the midle you can move distance figure left and right on the screen. Also you are not able to move to next screen when you are doing that. Tou have to place fingers lower or higher on a screen to be able to scroll to next data screen

@krakra can you show us what you mean? I don’t see anything strange with the default hiking mode 🤔

@Brad_Olwin so basically endurance can be used for cycling or running in the open. Which means 70+ hours when used with external HR?

@Łukasz-Szmigiel Should go 70h with OHR. I have not tested enough to determine benefit of external HR

Main point of titanium watches beside weight is when you have a person allergic to nickel which is in all stainless alloys. Allergic reaction occurs at random, to some people and to some never.

With titanium or gold you just have much smaller chance of getting an allergic reaction, but it is possible still.

Yep. Thx. This one is already known in Suunto’s bug database 🙂

First trail run yesterday with the new beast. OHR seems to suit me better than with previous model (to be confirmed). Power looks also to work great.

BUT, indeed, what a pitty to have to customize again all sport mode 😢

@Mff73 agreed, I think a major issue is a fraction of users make custom sport modes, So, this issue is likely not at the top.

i just hope that not all developpements are always done according to usage statistics.
is there any survey which could measure how many people would create a custom sportsmode, IF it would be “easier”/“quicker” ?
If Suunto would propose an option just to change one field from a standard sportmode, and create then a custom one, i imagine more users would try (but just my guess).

@isazi said in Suunto 9 Peak Pro?:

@Brad_Olwin also, restoring custom modes after a hard reset could be, theoretically, not that difficult. But moving custom modes to a different watch, with different screens, screen size, etc? That is more complicated for sure, and would probably require user interaction anyway.

i, for sure, can’t imagine how difficult each situations could be.
But from far seeing (comparing SSU, and S9PP), screens logics are the same (3/4/5/7 fields, laps tabs, etc…), and saving/restoring screentype, data fields choosen in which position, there should not be that much exceptions inside Spartan/S watches lines. And in case copy/paste/backup/restore into other watch, would not match 100%, yes, a warning message that in this particular case, could be enough.

but too much offtopic now 🙂

I’m thinking out loud now… if I put Suunto in my professional situation, I can imagine that a task that takes 30min for a customer maybe once a year has not highest priority to solve if the solution cost me 4 or more weeks to develop…
It’s just what I started thinking when I look at my stack of work after vacation.
I can imagine the stack for Suunto developers isn’t smaller 🙈
I voted for backup and also gave feedback about it in surveys, but if I rate the pain compared to other issues and new developments it is minor. not during the setup of a new watch but the rest of the 3-4 years 🙂

…same with any new android phone, by the way 😟 😉

Not sure that titanium is stronger - I believe that stainless is actually harder and stronger - but there isn’t a lot in that. However the benefits of titanium are that when comparing a ratio of strength to weight then yes titanium has that one won - so can actually make a thiner case than stainless and reap weight bonus. Then there is the rust benefit, and of course as already mentioned it has a massive advantage of being hypoallergenic. And it much more commonly available than platinium (another light & strong hypoallergenic metal).

yep, agree as well, and i am not complaining that loud. I will create them, once, and it will be it 🙂
But it could also be/become any marketing argument (thus, higher priority) : Suunto is advertising how many sportsmode ? a lot. They could also advertise : “if any of them is just not your taste, in one click, we offer you the possibility to change one field and make your own customized one” 🙂
Instead, a fresh new user, either never create a custom sport mode, thus never increase the statistics of sportmode usage, either need to be sure of whay he/she need/want (or take photo of an existing mode, as a basis, and create it from scrach, etc…). We all did that, we all have “screenshots” backup of our mode, which make us “at home with our watch” 🙂
                              Still off topic 🙂
All in all, i am so fluent today, because i know i will run this evening with new S9PP (and need to take the time to create my f… mode 😍 )

@Jamie-BG Unlike titanium grade 2, the titanium used in Suunto 9 Peak Pro (grade 5) is actually stronger, even in absolute terms - for both shear and tensile strength, than most stainless steels (not that it matters: both are plenty strong enough for watch casing application).

You really have got it wrong with Platinum though. It’s one of the densest elements in the world at 21,4 kg/dm3

In Ti models, construction is not stainless steel, so forget about putting a flux capacitor inside.
