speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches
-
@Egika I think it depends in how much details you need. The Coros maps are quite small, but not very detailed (no street names, place names etc) on the picture you can see that the chosen area (blueish rectangle with blue dot) only would have 38 MB ). The S7 also had map tiles you could download, so let’s see
-
@ChrisA right.
and you see, that the watch has some twenty something GB availableNext to the use of maps you would need to hink about how to transfer 1GB of map data into a watch that has only a BT connection…
I highly doubt that it would work well. And Suunto is not a company of “hacks”, I have got to know Suunto as a company with solutions that actually work and are well thought through.
They don’t deliver data of questionable quality just to show dome value.But let’s see. Do we already know if the new watch will have maps anyway?

Ah yes, thats right, since the S9Ps don’t link to Computers anymore, that maybe difficult . I am really curious, how the maps on the vertical will look like. I still find the maps on the Suunto 7 are the best maps out there, when it comes to sportswatches.

99,999999 % sure
-
I am curious how maps will be implemented.
-
@ChrisA it’ll be interesting to see if they use maps similar to my S7. Pick your area and connect to wifi (or data) It’s been brilliant and I use the maps in new cities when I go exploring. The S7 screen is still in my opinion one of the best around.
-
@Wilson75 Suunto’s way. I expect it to be done really good.

May be it’s mentioned somewhere in this topic, but I didn’t find it.

@tomasbartko
new watch is not up to discussion… the rule is simple: if “Suunto and new and big” then: buy100% with you on this one! So am I right in thinking the rumour mill has it as a 49mm?
-
what will be the price?? in reddit we talk about $ 1099.00 it’s too much for me
-
@MeazzaS9 Maybe that’s in CAD. In EUR maybe $700-800. Plus if you’re patient for a couple of months you might get it with a decent discount.
-
@Highlands hard to resist, just sold my S9b. I will be forced to train for a while with S7 waiting for the prices to drop
-
@MeazzaS9 My idea is wait a couple of months after the release day and see what’s on offer. I remember just before X-mass the 9pp was available on Spanish Amazon for a short period of time at €350 + €10 delivery which even now is unbeatable price. Hopefully, we’ll see good discounts for the new watch as well. But I can’t promise I’ll be that patient… lol

Wow, even now used ones are more expensive.
-
@MeazzaS9 I think I saw a leaked German/Austrian retailers price, which was 599.- € for the non titanium versions
-
@ChrisA
Titanium + solar 799€
Stainless steel 599€ -
@André-Faria One has to act fast when a good offer is available.
-
Among all potential specs that have leaked, I’ve seen only one that would disappoint me a bit : mention of screen resolution 280x280. It would be less than S9b. Really hope it will better than that.
-
@Tieutieu doesn’t that depend on the screen type ? (Display). Also wortht to consider that displays factor is not the resolution for transreflective screens and small screens aka watches.
Hd is ok for smartphones but not for your tv

Fair enough, was just a tought and considering S9b resolution is « better », I’d hope it would have been at least the same
And it won’t protect me from spending my money anyway !
