Suunto Vertical is here

@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud sorry, you appear as a “Silver Member” so I thought you knew Suunto watches already. You can create workouts based on HR, power, pace values. I use TrainingPeaks, but the Suunto App has also a basic workout creator.
-
@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud yes of course.
A small video to understand better

@isazi earned that badge many years ago. Consider coming back now.

@tomasbartko Ehm, the Vertical is on the charger?
-
@lessthanmore Indeed, hopefully it is not that thick !
-
@v-sacre It is huge. I have a small wrist (appr. 17cm). I hope I get used to it very quickly but it’s definitely bigger than my fenix 7s.
Right now it looks a bit like a fish out of water -.- -
Arrived - doe they have a box for every colour ???
-
@ChrisA I guess yes since mine is Sand
-
@Hristijan-Petreski Only connects to wifi 2.4 band and making it take forever to download maps, unfortunately
-
@aroo7 The 2.4 was not the problem. The SSID name containing the apostrophe was the issue. I have both 2.4 and 5 enabled so it chooses what to connecto to.
-
@Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud as things stand, Suunto’s own tool on SA to create structure workout doesn’t know about the zones set in the watch, so it doesn’t have the option to specify % of zones as targets, I’ve requested this in the past, you can manually specify min and max values for power, hr etc, as @isazi said , Trainingpeaks does allows this, also Intervals ICU both work quite well.
-
@herlas Sadly, TP does have limitations in the free version if I remember correctly. Like inability to schedule workouts into the future and have their training load estimated? Anyone can confirm?
That said, unless esteemed @Marius-Jacobsen-Eggerud returns to Suunto from COROS that has a pretty butt kicking web based front end with workout builder and calendar, I’d say neither Garmin nor Polar can hold a candle to TP and others. The flexibility and depth just isn’t there. Not to mention training load estimation and analysis, coaching features, and training plans.

Went for a small trail running, I give you my first impressions (and first comparison with S9b - probably some improvements are already in S9pp).
trail was Under trees cover, between small cliffs, open field…- GPS precision : So glad to see a precise and smooth track ! Even if my S9b was good, Vertical is really much metter !
- Instant pace seems much better (no more eratic fluctuations)
- readabilty of the screen is much better
- it is very less bulkier on the wrist and more confortable than S9B. (On my kitchen scale Vertical is 73g vs 69g for S9B - difference not noticable)
- maps reactivity as seen on test => very smooth !
- more options thru dedicated menu during activity (I guess it is the UI also in S9pp)
- altitude graphic as a much usefull scale than it was on S9B ! one thing that was very annoying for me is solved.
- solar intensity and battery consumption => need more time to make conclusions.
Sync with SA works very fast, creating personnal sports profil also…installing maps is easy, widgets can easily be reorganised in SA by drag and move
(two things : name of watch not displayed on the activity, and on map view in the diary, I had some strange pink icons like a battery indicator on overlay)That was my first feedback.
I’m gonna be happy for a lonnngg time with it !! -
@Tieutieu How’s heart rate accuracy? Did you check that by any chance?
S9P§ did improve things substantially over S9B wrt cadence locks, but I still see occasional crazy land trip at the beginning or end of workouts when my pace drops.

I never use the optical HR sensor for running, always use the HR belt. So, it was quite perfect as usual. I’ll try to make a comparison someday.
I mostly use it for H24/7 activity and sleep tracking. I’ve been checking last hour and for now it seems OK for that. -

When will the Updates for the older watches be released? Especially interested in the Update for the S9PP (not very old though )
-
@Stoke80 June? Cannot say, sorry.
-
Now that people are receiving their Vertical, feel free to open new topics, especially if you have bugs to report. We will soon have the Vertical section in the forum, and mods will move all the relevant posts.
