Suunto Vertical is here

@mlatej Not a square,that is the solar panel wire.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Music in the watch is required by a large number of people. There is internal memory in the watch, so it would just be a software setting. Coros and Garmin have music.
-
@Walter-Samuel because there is storage at the device it doesn’t mean that there is all the hardware to support, for example drm decoding etc. And even in the case of hw being there, or possible to do that it doesn’t mean that a) it’s easy sw wise , b) should be done. I am sure Suunto is not building a have it all watch, thus the name vertical.
Coros has mp3 support and the people that own mp3 has become a niche now-a-days. A proper implementation and b2b is needed for streaming services to download drm content for offline listening in the niche case that you are fine with paring your headset with your watch, having dropsouts , battery drain , and many other complexities (UI wise) for the few cases that you leave the phone at home. My humble opinion
-
Sorry music is nonsense on a serious training watch. I hope suunto sticks to its origins leave music for Garmin and apple
-
Suunto Vertical (rapid thoughts):
(+)
- comfortable;
- size of screen and fonts;
- battery;
- HW more fast even connection to app;
- dual GNSS frequency provides the best tracks i’ve ever seen. Lovely! Simple reason?
- maps (very well implemented taking into account the size of a watch’s screen).
(-)
- just minor bugs.
-
@LuÃs-Pinto
My thoughts:Pros:
- literaly everything;
Cons:
- Bike OHR (the rest activities are quite good, and by bike I mean very easy commuting not MB or Gravel - still have not tested those)
-
@Hristijan-Petreski weight lifting is similar to bike. Very low OHR.
Otherwise the OHR for me is almost perfect, but did not have problems with 9p or Spartan either. Bit of a luck I guess.
-
@Ketoohs Yes its too low for me as well while biking. At some points ~70 beats lower when you are pushing. And once you drive more calmly it tries to catch up but again still too low. Which is weird since if you attribute this to the wrists being pushed is not valid since while core training I have no problem and I am driving my Gravel bike which does not require me to push my wrists.

Nope. Those who want music in the watch don’t buy or shouldn’t buy suunto’s.
If I want music my phone is much more efficient.
I choose Suunto.

Hi,
How is the vibration on SV vs the S9PP, or Fenix 7? Is it more noisy, or more haptic? -
@Dusan-DDD
it’s similar noticeable but doesn’t rattle as much as S9PP. it feels more solid -

I’d not say it is required, it might be nice to have though.
But you know that in advance of your purchase.
If music has a high priority for you you should buy Garmin, Coros, Apple, etc.
It’s that simple. I’m not buying a product and complain about something that is well known.
I have a fenix 7sss. On a 15k run with music and OHR it drains appr. 40-50%. But I also have my phone with me at the same time, at least on long runs. -

I think there is no music player needed! It‘s possible to take the phone and ear buds to listen to music!
-
@lessthanmore but why would you then use the watch for music ? Honest question.
-
@Hristijan-Petreski I found that I need to fasten the strap on the Vertical a little more than on S9PP.
If it stays put during vibrations OHR will improve! -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I could run only with my watch and headphones, free like a bird
Especially during summer I do not wear a vest or jacket with pockets. So, if I want to listen to Music I have to carry my phone in my hand which is a bit cumbersome.
My iPhone is heavy, it pulls my pants down. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I had Suunto 5 (absolute satisfaction), then Garmin Fenix 6x. Garmin died in two months. Never more. The new Suunto Vertical will arrive tomorrow.
It’s up to everyone, I can do without music too, but it would be nice to play it from the watch.
Sorry for the question, but it was not meant badly.
-
I don’t care about music but podcasts catch up during training is a time saver for me especially when new Uphill Athlete podcast comes out. I can apply what they say in the podcast as I am running.

@lessthanmore That’s why you buy a second phone like the mini the greatest size of phone for sport people. Fits in every pocket in those running shorts with small pocket made for… keys?!
