@GiPFELKiND No. In 4 months it’s never happened. Fixed with a reset.

I had the same problem some days ago. Soft reset fixed the hr reading.
-
@mikekoski490 I had the same problem several weeks ago. Also the “no map” issue was there at the same time, black map screen. After a soft reset all started to work again.
Perhaps both issues were related, some memory buffer getting empty or something like that. -
Got a bug for the first time today during my lunch run.
Activity has been shutdown after about 1 km. The watch got back on the main screen. I had to restart another activity.
Activity before the bug has been well recorded.
Laps each km were activated and S+ fused zone as well.
I suspect I got the crash because of the first lap (but it is strange as it is the first time I have this). But it is the first time I used laps and fused zone at the same time. -
@v-sacre That’s the already known “random reboot” while in activity, I think there are topics about it in the forum.
You can try to send logs to Suunto to help developers find the solution to the issue. -
Hello,
I noticed that sometime the touch screen blocked. When the screen block the watch works and I can navigate in the menu. I found two ways to fix it - restart and start and discard the activity.
-
@v-sacre I am on my second unit (the first one was crashing on every 2nd to 3d run) but the replacement I got is even worse. I got the replacement, couldn’t use it since I was away for a month then come home turn it on put it in my backpack and went biking to work to set it up during lunch break. I just got it out of the bag and touched it, it crashed and restarted. Brand new watch just turned on!!
Reset it turned it off and back to the drawer. Since I am terribly dissapointed with the SV I started testing another watch (and loved it). So after 2 weeks turned on the SV, synced and put the 2 wathces to check the GPS accuracy and pace between them. While similar in distance the maps on the SV were shoing me off by almost 100m?! Than on the 3rd km it crashed again!
I mean if it was one unit, ok sh*t happens it is tech so it might be expected. But the new unit also! And nothing to fix the crashes, no hotfix no nothing! -

Accuracy of the SV it outstanding, no reason to be off by 100m… -
@Tieutieu I know my first unit was super accurate. Ok it may happen to drift a bit on weird GPS days but this time it was really something off. I waited 2-3 mins after gps lock aquired and started running first in the open and then entering the woods (here is were it started acting weirdly). Yes I use TrainingPeaks Guides and Stryd food pod since I train with power. But as I said the watch restarted even out of activity!
-
@Tieutieu What else is worth mentioning is that even off the overall distance with the other watch was only 10m. So after I saw the maps I returned to the default sport face (first screen) and after some running said to check again the maps. Upon pressing to advance to the 3rd screen (the maps, 2nd one being the laps) the wath froze and restared. Tried to start activity while running but couldn’t lock on gps. So being in a season of marathons and long runs the SV is too unreliable to go for a walk not to train with it!

@EzioAuditore Can you post app screenshots from the workouts you did with both the Suunto and also the ‘other brand’ you were wearing at the same time? It’s ok to name the other brand too. Curious. Thanks! I’ve had my Vertical since launch and only one crash a few months back, which put it on par with Garmin and Coros (both had crashes at some point).
When my Vertical crashed I had to restart the workout (trail run) mid-way so it showed up in SA as 2 workouts.

Not concerned by crashes neither accuracy pbs…don’t you wanted to tag @EzioAuditore ?
-
@Tieutieu Yes. Corrected the tag name. Thanks.
-
@mikekoski490 Sure but what will it help if you see the GPS since the watch was operating in crash mode There were 2 laps so 2 passes on the same place (each 10+ km). The initial ‘crashed’ activity was deleted. The other watch is a loaner by a friend of mine and is the FR965.

(Didn’t asked you to send, it was requested by @mikekoski490 )
My only though is that you’ve really ran out off luck with your SV experience…
I certainly don’t want to minimize the problems you had…but statisticly you shouldn’t have such problems.
As I’ve read on this forum, a few users had repeated problems with different units, with one or more replacements…
My conclusion is that the HW is problably not faulty, but that there must be some kind of use cases that lead the OS to crash…
As every software issues, finding the exact way to the bugs is sometimes very hard. -
@EzioAuditore this GPS accuracy is totally not normal with SV ! (if settings were at best performance for gps, and even other modes, it’s not normal)…
-
@Tieutieu Yes sorry I too tagged the wrong person But I know thats why I do not compare it based on the GPS since I’ve had extremely good past experience with the first SV unit. The second one I touched twice and 2 times it restarted so I am kinda in weird place now not knowing what to do. Being lauged at and loaning me ‘real’ devices as my friends call it is something I do not like. Since I was the ‘promotor’ of Suunto within my group of people, but I am running out of excuses why is this watch so bad. On the other hand I said never in my life Garmin (based on the experience with the 6x) the Forerunner has been qute good surprice. Almost too good to be true.

Really sad ; In my group of close friends, 4 of us are intensivly using the SV, and everybody’s is juste experimenting the best…wish that next update to come will fix your unit…If not your SV is still under warranty so I would try to make it replaced again if problems remain
-
@Tieutieu Well the first unit had 6 crashes in 2 months the new unit 2 crashes with 2 uses. I am afraid I will not wear my watch that often (and how can I when its been a disaster) to train with it and count all the possible crashes. Soon it will run out of warranty and I do not have time to bother with it really. Maybe my lawyer should get involved if there is no real fix for it who knows.
-
@EzioAuditore Sorry…its under warranty and…you don’t have the ‘time’ to do another warranty claim, which should be up to at least a year (so not sure what you mean by your warranty will run out soon as Vertical was recently released) … so are going to get your lawyer involved? To do…what exactly? Sue Suunto for your bad experience with rare shut downs? I think you have lost me with your posts.
