No-Map-Problem

@mikekoski490
like @surfboomerang said, but don’t be surprised, keeping upper right button will first scroll up accross all sports modes but at the end the watch is restarting (still need as usual for a first sync with SA for AGPS download) -
Damn you are a nice guy.
If we were you, I’d say keep you vertical like this and it gets 8% chance to reboot itself
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos sent you PM, thanks

Hi everyone,
unfortunately I also have an issue with the map.
In a very small area I can see the map, but this is only around the place where I live.
Any ideas to fix this?
The area is Cologne, Regierungsbezirk Köln, Germany
Thank you so much,
Björn! -
@Björn-Twittmann I had exactly the same problem,during a bike training, map was empty excepted near my home. Then I stopped watch (Parameters --> General --> Stop Watch) and started again the Watch. It solved the problem.

@Enrique-0 Thank you so much for helping me. Now it works.
All the best to you and many thanks,
Björn -
Since I received my vertical, maps where at beginning working pretty well.
Since then, I have had more and more maps areas that where not displayed.
Around my place there where first just ok, few days ago certain areas and scales where not visible anymore, and tonight nothing was displayed.
I m not very worried (Also because I don’t need maps those days), but I’d like it to work again properly. I’ve tried soft reset but no results.
I’ve tried to stop watch like proposed by @Enrique-0 and it’s seems ok now.
What leads me to that point : is it like a sort of « cache memory saturation » that could happen when too much maps have used ?(don’t know how to say that properly) -
@Tieutieu for information, map problem happened again for me today during a bike training I was not happy at all because I bought Vertical watch for 2 reasons : autonomy and maps ! (and this is not my first Suunto). Then I didn’t want to restart my watch during the bike session, so I decided not to display the map, an later during the session the bike session stopped alone on the watch ! (I specify that the watch is attached to the handlebars and I touched nothing !!!) I was quite disappointed, so my bike session was recorded in two different parts
All for my point of view this sounds like a bug…
I wonder if I shoudn’t restart my watch before each sport sessions using GPS where I could need map displaying… -

Since I stopped/restarted the watch once, I didn’t had any issue with maps, works fine.
for sure this issue as to be fixed asap. -
Tips for everybody: What I do now is I restart watch every time after I’ve synced new routes into the watch. Since doing this, I’ve got no problems at all with bad rendering (black screen with white grid). Also, after the restart I have to calibrate the compass/maps. Better to do it immediately, otherwise you need to dismount from bike handlebar and do it anyways.
-
@Jan-Krejčí new routes or new maps?

Ohhh that’s a nice catch about comportment that could lead to the no map pb. I just added a new route into the watch (I had no problems with maps for a while)…I just checked after your message and I have a few black squares back ! Will stop and start it (had done it once and it solved). Thanks !
[Edit] => stop/restart. show map, calibrate compass => black squars gone away. took 1min, but hope it will solved with the hot fix to come. -
@taziden Routes. It is strange but first route on a new map was no problem. Second time though - new route on the same map - I got the rendering problem
-
I’m starting to get this issue after hotfix. About 25% of my workouts get the grid with no map. Anyone else?
-
@mikekoski490
did you reload the map ? -
@sartoric Yes. I did a complete reset and reloaded 2 maps. Took 4.5 hours. The maps show up sometimes / sometimes not.
-
@Racoon6 made a trip to cologne today. My watch didn’t show a map although I downloaded the whole of Germany… Soft reset didn’t work… the map works 150 km away in my home town of Hesse… The vertical is really unreliable
-
@Sascha-Domres
did you get a GPS fix ? -
@sartoric yes, there were no problems with the recording… I restarted the clock twice… unfortunately no map to be seen…
