No-Map-Problem

In 2 km zoom I can pan to the border of the downloaded map. There the map changes to black squares (shown in your first picture). I don’t know if this will help …
-
@pilleus Great, I will probably have to try the hard reset soon
EDIT: I tried the hard reset and it did not help…
-
@inkognito I’m having similar issues with the new version. I can’t see maps at all on 500m, 1km, 2km. (just the grid) And if I even try 1km and 2km then the bigger zooms (25m-200m) break too and show only part of the map just like in the photo you sent. Afterwards suunto app is not able to connect and soft reset is needed. I have also done factory reset, deleted and re-uploaded maps and nothing helps.
-
With the latest firmware I am also seeing mostly just black squares in Vertical, with the old firmware everything worked ok and now almost none of the map tiles are rendered. I did try to reset and redownload maps but nothing seems to help.

@inkognito "black grid of death” is still with us. I’m just back from 2h trail run and issue started when i zoomed out map too much. Some map areas (even those visible at start) disapeared. So I ran my way back trough the black fields of death . And as community said: when it happens it can affect other things as well. In my case it was HR sensor reads which frozen at 180 bmp value till the end of workout. Also afer the workout, many widgets were showing nothing or nonsense untill i soft reset. So it is definitely cache mamory issue driven by some maps operations.
-
Today I went to a longer run and didn’t open map view until halfway the route and to my surprise maps worked on all zoom levels. When I came back to the point where I have seen black grid, it did appear again when zooming in and out.
-
@vpet_09 From my observation, when given maps segment disappeared once then nothing can bring them back, during activity or anytime after. Only after soft reset they’re back. Is it he same in your case?
-
@Majkel-Paszeko yes exactly, once you see black grid nothing will fix the problem after that and also I think battery starts to drain a lot faster so maybe there is somekind of infinite loop or something like that which takes all the resources from the watch.
-
@vpet_09 did you have any POI added to watch in this workout area?
-
@Majkel-Paszeko there was no POIs in the area
-
@Majkel-Paszeko I have poi’s but removing them from the watch didn’t help. I can repeatedly cause the issue at my black grid location:
- Soft reset 2) Go to map 3) Zoom out to 500m 4) Black grid appears and SV becomes sluggish and stops syncing to the app.
Other pattern I can repeat on my black grid location:
- Soft reset 2) Go to map 3) drag the map to location where there is no black grid issue on 200m zoom 4) Zoom out to 500m - works fine, even 1km, 2km work 5) Drag the map back to my black grid area at 500m zoom and I see half-blackgrid on my location and SV becomes sluggish and stops syncing to the app
-
@Juhani Corrupted data in some map zones?
-
@Juhani I’m also able to reproduce the issue anytime i want with similar patterns. Intersting thing is that the more fresh watch is after last reset the easier is to trigger this issue. One could probably expect opposite behawior.
Anyway I sent logs to Suunto using app (of course after soft reset, because while it’s happening app cannot connect to watch) -
Hi having exact Same Problems since last Update this weekend. I’m new here, does anyone know what to do or what’s gonna Happen? Thanks in advance.

@raphschroeder
Share location where you have issue here

@raphschroeder No workaround other than not touching maps. We sent our logs, locations, described issue pattern well. Now we need to wait and trust in Suunto dev team
-
@Mff73 thanks I did

I had some grid-issues, too, but with the old watch firmware.
Today’s run with map active did not result of any disappearance although I heavily used the map to orientate and zoomed in and out from.max to minimum and reverse. Let’s see how it develops.Just a question: how are maps updated after they received a (significant) update, e.g. after I had them on my watch for three months or so?
How am I to suppesed to learn about a map update, or will the map just update somehow in the background? (I have to admit I can’t imagine the ‘automatic map update’) -

For now there has been no map update released. Suunto is very probably working on it. Let’s see when it comes how they will make it work (update or uninstall/install again).
I have made some OSM corrections around my place few months ago after SV was released. They have been visible just few days after in OSM. I have tried by curiosity just a few days ago to uninstall/install my area again on my SV. Corrections are not there. -
