Software Firmware Update Suunto Vertical?!
-
@mikekoski490 to be frank, I do advise my kids not to follow my footsteps. Yes it is harsh world in software industry here and I believe same case in coros main rnd in china.

Should I go to Garmin forums and shout there?
I wasn’t aware I was shouting, was I?
That’s how bringing up valid criticism substantiated by hard evidence is referred to in these places now? See no evil, speak no evil? Toe the party line? Everything is awesome?
OK, Tovarish Kommissar! I made a mistake. Please don’t take away my party membership and food stamps
-
@NickK I just think you and the other software developer on here who doesn’t have a Vertical and works at a terrible place where they fire software developers all the time have moved well on from helpful constructive criticism and sending issue logs to the volunteers, to posting things like ‘Suunto is dead’, and longer than required posts over and over again about how unhappy you are.
Your volume and repetitive posts, content and tone are kinda negative, that’s all.
I get it. Both of you are unhappy with your Suunto, and your friends Suunto who you feel the need to speak for but glad he could return it before some fatality ensued. You have reported your dismay. Let’s move on.
-
@mikekoski490 To be fair to nick, I believe he has or had 2 or 3 verticals
-
@Kk2n-Kk Anecdotally…
Honestly though, if I went through 3 Verticals in a month and all of them were bad, which is super bad luck statistically but not the norm based on a lot of us with few to no issues, I would pissed off too, say my peace here, and move on.
I certainly would not repeat post here.
Also wouldn’t repeat post if I didn’t even have a Suunto Vertical.
-
@Kk2n-Kk Do you have watch that restarts? I really don’t understand your posts… You just moaning about something you didn’t experience… There are so many people on this forum that USE Suunto Vertical almost every day with zero reboots. I must say that your posts start to be a little annoying.
And yes, if somebody don’t want to sell Suunto in your country that really mean nothing about the product. -
@nseslija yes I experienced and your point is? Everyone must say no evil, hear no evil? In that case, good luck guys. Remember Nokia. Ironically also from Finland. And yes, it Does say something about the product if nobody want to buy it.
@NickK you’re right. It’s hopeless .
-
@Kk2n-Kk Thank you!! Bye!
-
This discussion is really boring and annoying now… shouting out having an issue with a product you own is normal I think! But shouting out about issues with a product you heardt about and repeating it on and on? Incomprehensible!
Perhaps it‘s possible to close this thread? -
@SuperFlo75 I agree. OP simply asked when the firmware update is going to be.
-
@mikekoski490 when will the Update roll out?
-
@GiPFELKiND Isazi posted hopefully next week.

@GiPFELKiND, you already asked several times, @isazi already aswered. I guess you just have to be a little patient.
-
@Tieutieu I ‘think’ @GiPFELKiND was just trying to re-frame the conversation back to his original post question after the tons of off topic rhetoric.

Jee that escalated quickly. We lost NickK
The update is bound next week around the 20nth fyi
Reboots as not often but still they affect some users and that’s bad
However I really don’t understand what this conversation has to bring except some people getting furstrated and loosing their time assuming about how QA works etc. Jee
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Yeah it escalated pretty quickly, probably I’ve helped to do that .
But for me is quite annoying that people complain hard when the company (at least the people that are testing the upgrade) have said that they have found the root cause and the fix is being tested right now. If you are very angry with your product you can contact support, file a complain with the company, I do not know…
I also found quite childish to leave the forum because you have had some “hard” discussion, but it’s a free world, isn’t it?
Anyway, all this is my opinion.

Man down, man down!
I’m still not sure if it’s good or bad that electronics make people so emotional.
-
@cosme-costa don’t feel bad about saying what you feel.
Neither should NickK which I hope he will be back
It’s ok to have any discussion here as long as it’s polite , that’s why it’s a community forum.
With it’s good and bad.

To make this clear: I am not working for Suunto.
I just know that there are professionals working there.
Just be assured, that all the great hints and tips posted anonymously will have absolutely no effect. You don’t get my point. My point is, that your criticism is just not constructive.
And this is why it is of no use. With a statement like “this is not acceptable” - what would anyone here expect to happen?
Perhaps a proper QA testing cycle? A different group of QA testers that use the watch differently? Realistic deadlines for hardware and software deliveries? An open beta program like Garmin, COROS, and Apple have? An ability to report and vote on issues, like Garmin did? A statement from the company rep saying they are aware of a problem and looking into it? A timely fix?
There are a lot of things you can actually do, apart from sneeringly dismissing users’ concerns and defensively attacking them @Egika. You haven’t gotten that many users left!
- Make Suunto change their processes, because you think you know how it works better? -> really?
Well, if I were to put out a release like the Vertical, the next morning I’d have a short chat with my boss and HR, and then security would take away my badge and escort me off the premises. Which is a big reason why I don’t put out releases like that.
But hey, I only got 25 years of experience in software industry… What do I know?
Since you obviously believe that Suunto’s process is fantastic and testing is top notch, could you please explain why the offline maps don’t work? Or how can a broken recovery timer be missed during testing? Or why calories do not add up?
@NickK @Kk2n-Kk (so many K’s, but you are different individuals I guess):
Imagine that! There’s more than one person who’s for some reason unhappy and has K in his handle. I think we should outlaw Ks.
