Currently on my 9PP, when I click “save” when viewing my coordinates on the “Your location” screen, the watch moves to the next screen and asks me to specify the type of POI. Once you go through that all’s well.

However it seems that upon pressing “save” on the coordinates screen, the watch doesn’t actually lock in those coordinates and if you keep moving without selecting the type of POI right away and select the POI a bit later the watch instead saves your latest coordinates and not where you clicked save earlier.

It might make more sense to lock them in right away. In case someone was trying to save while running or riding and couldn’t properly go through the following step right away.

      Here’s the logic I’m observing:

Last night I was driving and tried to save the location of a trailhead where I couldn’t park and speedily went to the first step only, then around 2 km later when I could stop I ended up confirming what POI type it was and I had the wrong coordinates saved for that POI.

@Umer-Javed unfortunately this has always been like this.

I do not expect it to change very soon.

It would make much more sense to save immediately on the button press.

@surfboomerang I missed that, sorry! Forwarding this to Suunto, sounds like a good idea honestly.
