New Suunto watch coming
-
Somebody who can explain me the point with the new watch? SV is nearly twice the price and the race has just AMOLED? Tried to find a page where I can compare both watches men could not find it.

@Stefan-Kersting I am sure very soon there will be a dedicated RACE subforum created by the moderators.
In short:
RACE has an AMOLED display and the digital crown as distinctive features.
VERTICAL has the absolutely longest battery life and the solar option - plus it is made in Finland with all renewable energy. Both will have HRV and recovery features as well as new training data.
I am absolutely in love with the race after wearing it next to Vertical for some weeks now.
-
@Stefan-Kersting I think no solar, battery life much less, and not Made in Finland?
-
@SuperFlo75 made in China?

I don’t see dual band on the new Race. No solar. Less battery life due to amoled screen (more than 50% less if we compare the best GPS setting of the Vertical with no dual band, to the best mode of the race).
But indeed not that it seems there is not that much differences
I would bet this is the first step to amoled for suunto. -
@Egika so when getting the update on SV it is just the AMOLED that is the difference?
-
Source DC Rainmaker.
Difference with SV …
-
@Lechamoix but naps will we get with the FW update?
-
@Stefan-Kersting Good Question … The same for the race prediction
-
I don’t see any option for Preorder…
-
@Lechamoix So the non solar Vertical will have less features than Race, no Amoled screen and better battery life for 150€ more… I do not understand the logic, and as a Vertical owner I am confused and disappointed.
-
@Tieutieu think Race has dual band
-
-
@Stefan-Kersting it’s unfortunate. It seems like with the S7 as well, they couldn’t produce AMOLED watches in Finland.
-
Maybe for now major differences are display and battery. If additional software features are introduced later, maybe differentiation will be more clear.
-
@Stefan-Kersting Yes, made in china…
-
@Ketoohs it very aggressively priced. I wonder how much has been borrowed from the parent company or is there some internal competition between teams.
Its odd to undercut the vertical by quite so much. The home screen for example looks out of place on a Suunto watch. Not saying I dont like it but it doesn’t look ‘Suunto’.

reviews are popping up everywhere

I’m not disappointed : my SV is awesome and will improve. I don’t need amoled for now, and much prefer a longer battery time.
Few design differences also make me prefer the SV. Also for the “made in finland” !
Still, it is a big step forward for suunto, this watch looks good !
