Unable to disable wrist HR on sport mode
-
@MiniForklift Just to be sure…there is also no heart icon flashing right before the start? And no light on the back of the watch? Because the setting is still off, but my watch still starts flashing and measureing.
-
@surfboomerang Hmmm okay so I just checked, yes the sensors are flickering on the back although I can’t recall if they used to do that before the update? No heart icon flashing and when I start the activity it all looks as normal
I’m hoping that the sensors stop flickering after a certain amount of time? Otherwise that’s just contributing to unnecessary battery drain

@sartoric That’s so silly and simply ridiculous what Suunto has manufactured again. honestly? again a new watch, again errors when starting the product. a new software update for the previous model and problems there again. I’ll tell you what, my Ambit 3 peak sapphire was a pure workhorse. Simple software, no errors, no crashes, no problems with the back of a watch dissolving. Today you have to be afraid if you take your watch into the shower or do sports with it, because the salt on your skin can loosen the back… really now? The forum is full of photos, reports, errors and everyone hopes that things will get better. will it? Guys we have 6!!! Waited months for an update on the vertical… what has gotten better? People here in the forum (well-known people, gold members) would like to downgrade the update… something is wrong here and I’m wondering what it is!? My vertical is now the 3rd model, the first one went back because of constant crashes, the second model had a defect on the sensor back, the third model I woke up from sleep mode and an error prevented the watch from starting… no one tells you what to do then! no support can help you! Only the desperate attempt to press different buttons for a long time (12 seconds, the top button didn’t work!!!) got the clock to work again. after 30 minutes!!! Now the new update is on it… there are already reports here in the forum about an OHR sensor that cannot be switched off, despite the switch off button. new algorithms: resource monitor is suddenly back from 19% to 70% after loading the watch. why exactly now? What happened in the one hour of loading? Power recovery for me or what? It was the same before the update, only Suunto had set the new start to 50%… so no change, just a different start number to increase the value? Or is a true algorithm to blame for the recovery suddenly being so high? oh yes, with a soft reset the recovery is again at a strange 70% no notable improvement on the OHR sensor… often utopian values at rest — 150 bpm? I almost had ventricular fibrillation. So nothing improved on the sensor. Another watch face? Really now ? in 6 months? Numerous ideas were given here by forum users. Implementation… none! Baro graphics? None. sorry, what’s wrong? Suunto was really amazing, stood for innovation, reliability, accuracy and was particularly highlighted. At the moment i dont know what to think about my suunto. at the moment i dont know why there are so many problems, defects and unhappy users…
And your point is…? You’re switching to another brand or just blowing off some steam?
-
@MiniForklift Before the update I didn’t see a heart icon on the sport profiles where I disabled OHR. Now I see my HR is measured before the start. Eventhough the Wrist HR option is disabled and no belt is paired.

No, of course I won’t switch to another brand if I don’t have to. Don’t get me wrong, but we’ve all been waiting for over half a year for an update that should fix various errors… and now? new update, few changes… everything I already mentioned in the post above. Let’s be realistic, nothing is new, now a menu from another clock has simply been adopted, and now there are statements after statements about problems with the cards with black areas without content. Resources…oh you know what - I think you know exactly that there are already problems again… but you will now write again suunto knows, it will change… and once again we hope and fear that we won’t be beta testers of a software again ---- after an update
-
@surfboomerang Ah yeah that’s annoying, I don’t have that. Other than my sensors flashing mine is as it was before (and they could have well been flashing before and I’ve never noticed). Hopefully you get a fix for this soon

There’s plenty new with the recent update, the whole layout and how the widgets work is new as well as HRV, 2km map zoom out amongst other things. How many watches have you returned so far, has to be at least three or four?
I think you should switch to another brand that works for you better as the amount of issues you have with your Vertical & Race must be well into the double digits

So I started an activity and ran it for about 5mins and it seems like the sensors on the back are going the whole time even though OHR is disabled. What I also found to be a bit odd is that regardless of whether you have the OHR set to on or off the hours of battery life shown is the same. Surely if you have wrist HR enabled the hours of battery remaining should be less than if you’re not using it?

please @GiPFELKiND stop complaining all the time. You have a high, very high post rate! Just think for a while if all the users of this forum behaved like you… what a mess! it is already a mess trying to find answers to one’s problem.
-
@westie sorry about this
-
@GiPFELKiND mate, no problems at all, just share this resource with consciousness
-
@surfboomerang To reiterate what @Egika said. Suunto knows about this.
-
even if it’s known :), @surfboomerang , i can’t make the workaround work anymore. Is it still ok for you ?
It is not important though -
@Mff73 Just tried and it still works for me
-
Same issue here with the latest update (2.30.26).
I keep disabling the wrist HR in all my sports modes but when I start the sport mode, the wrist HR blinks and I’m sure that it uses more battery than without it.Disappointed that Suunto is releasing yet another watch that seems half-baked unfortunately.
-
Issue still there after 2.30.38 update.

Confirmed. SV all black (non-solar). My imagination was that is a pretty serious crash and would be fixed very soon during the next update but I was wrong…
Hiking in June - 10 hours = ca. 13% of battery life
Hiking now (with hr switched on) - 10 hours = ca. 25% or even more of battery life.
In both cases the same parameters for gps, dispaly etc.
As SV is advertised as an outdoor gps watch, topic is important IMHO. -
@darekzzz Suunto is aware of this and a fix will come.
-
@Brad_Olwin Thanks for the update, that’s nice to know.
But still, I have to admit that I dont get how such a bug like that can make it to the public. Sorry for the rant but I dont really like being a beta tester anymore whenever I get an official released watch that I bought 6 months after the initial public release. -
