@Wilson7 A couple of things to try are auto DND prior to bed, say 1 h before and 1h after wakeup. Second is use your avg resting HR as HR min on the watch. I started with poor sleep tracking as well but it is very good now.

@Brad_Olwin how do you set minimum heart rate on the watch?

I have my Vertical now 3 weeks in daily and nightly use.

To have naps recorded I set my sleep time from 00:00 to 23:55 h. I enable DND when I go to bed or take a nap and disable it after I wake up.

I never set any hr value in the watch or in the app.

During the three weeks I had accurate sleep tracking and hrv tracking. I compare it to my Google Nest every day. Only one of these days was different, Vertical showed 1 hour less sleep than the Google Nest.

And one time I forgot to activate DND before a nap and the nap was not recorded.

So far a really satisfying behaviour of the Suunto Vertical. 👍

@Brad_Olwin For clarification : for HR min we use the average of the night ? or average “while resting but not sleeping” ?

@Elipsus, I use the second case which works perfect both for sleep tracking and the auto HR zones.

Just the HR when you are sitting comfortably doing nothing and well recovered.

there is still lots of rumors of what should be, what must be, or what is just a just a legend, about settings which may influence sleep tracking.
Sometime ago, for the Suunto Vertical, we have been “confirmed” this : resting HR is nowhere in the formula

Got to admit, as the watch is gathering all of this data (assuming it’s being worn 24/7) I would prefer to see a widget showing a graph for the last seven days average heart rate (for this topic) rather than the minimum, which seems of less use.

@Mff73, just seen others speculating that resting HR plays some role, but either way, from day one I have no issues with sleep tracking.

@wakarimasen, it’s a bit off topic, but an average HR per 24hr graph is something that depends a lot on what you did each day, and personally, I couldn’t not infer any useful info from it. Whereas average HR during sleep is useful, because you are always sleeping during sleep 😆

Anyway, in the Suunto app, into Training zone-> Sleep, if you select a certain day, you can see the whole HR graph for the day if you haven’t noticed it. There are some “gems” I haven’t discovered yet. For example, I just figured out the other options for the sleep graph in the app. Sleep regularity, wake up resources are great!

Sorry for the long off topic response.

@Brad_Olwin I changed my DND as suggested. it’s already better. thank you 😉 . this morning I pressed a button to end the sleep tracking. I will try next time without manipulating the watch.

Just wanted to add this link to th latest version post https://forum.suunto.com/post/140559 i have found that using an older watch face (Analogue style) solves the issue of no daily goal notifications.

Posting it here (I have since updated to 2.33, but this happened under2.30.38) as I read that it used to be a known bug on the 9PP:
Last week I finished a short yoga workout (25 min.) and my 9PP stayed in saving state for over 10 min. I could unfreeze it by coupling the charging cable, then activity showed as saved and gave me the summary. Thought it might be good to keep it as a record. I’ll of course monitor if this happens on the new FW.
                              Enjoy your day everyone!
