@aroo7 said in New watches: @Egika What’s wrong with asking questions? Just like @dennisdemennis said there are a lot of people who have spartan watches I don’t see any question in the post I answered to. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. People with Spartan watches can coninue using them. Or they can sell them/put them into the drawer collection and get a new watch. If you now get an S5/9 etc. as replacement, you know what you get. It will not become useless or degraded if there was a new hardware at the doorstep. That’s why I could not follow the OP.

@matteo-0 said in From Traverse to...: @brad_olwin said in From Traverse to...: could be an issue as you will have no HR if wo thank you @Brad_Olwin, for what I understood S7 is not right choice for me. I was intrigued by the adaptive guided training mode proposed in S3. Di you know if is it available on S9 too? No, the adaptive mode is available only on S3 and S5. However, these are not for you as alpinism and altitude seem to be important to you. S3 cannot display altitude and S5 has GPS altitude, which I find not all that great. Best choice for you seems to be an S9 baro.

@krakra I had my traverse since it was released, it has been to 10 African counties and went through dust,Mud, Harmattan season and still going strong. I have to agree kinda bored of it’s looks, so a revamped travers with a TFT or even better an AMOED screen would be amazing. In terms of its functionally, I would say it perfect as it is. Perhaps in the next model they can allow us chose the Storm alert sensitivity and quicker GPS lock.

@VoiGAS think a combination of Suunto Race s / Vertical ti rugged design with Suunto alpha core display… A orientated tactical watch. Eg luminox invictus [image: 1738683020942-img_20250204_172806.jpg] [image: 1738683020988-img_20250204_172739.jpg] [image: 1738683021025-img_20250204_172725.jpg]

Typically it should be faster. It searches for satellites, and needs min. of 3 for position, 4 for elevation. The more satellites, the faster the gps fix.

Elevation in non baro watches is derived from GPS positionning, vertical precision is much worse than horizontal one, and can be greatly affected by the surroundings (tall buldings, tree cover…). Elevation at the beginning of my activities is often wrong (like 30/40m above actual value)… If you share a link to your activity (or at least some screengrabs of the elevation profile), maybe we can see better where the error comes from.

Regardless of what garmin writes, I just looked at the s9 manual and there is no reference to it. You might be right eh … I’m just saying that there’s no warning about not pressing the keys under water

@surfboomerang said in Pressure change behavior in sport profiles: @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos It was a neat option. But fixing the profile is also a solution. I don’t know if this is the only profile or that there are more to be fixed. Sailing, kitesurfing, sup… etc crossfit or any other activity that is related to alti-static activity in a gym or streetworkout or whatever court.

@Audaxjoe ah that’s great to hear! I think watch and computer is sensible for long tours, but I really like not having a bike computer to look at… 2025 Project: Suunto Audax. (Plenty of time to persuade Suunto to sponsor!)

My bet for a potential S6 would be a refined version of the SSSWHRBaro. New gps chipset and other minor under the hood upgrades as with the S9. The differences between the Ultra and the Sport-lines are essentially the battery capacity and the materials used. Can’t see a reason why they wouldn’t go with the same strategy again, but this time making the only model available the “HR + Baro”, as these features are the standard amongst the competing brands and models. They might also opt for more clear separation between their top end and mid range products by not including software features such as the intelligent battery and FusedTrack on the S6. These are mainly related to battery consumption and wouldn’t be paramount for the “mid-range consumer”.

@Yannis-Belouris said in Suunto Smart Sensor. Help... defect?: Bought myself 5 straps (blue is very nice color) before I ended up if buying a polar H10 that just works without any excuses. I went through probably 8 replacement straps and 2 sensors before giving up and buying Polar H10. Each strap would only work reliably for 3-4 months before starting to glitch.

Well, for one I was scared a lot by reading some stuff online and especially here on forums. I’m new Suunto Ambit 3 Peak user. Been used watch for like a week now. But now that I gathered how: the watch works how online platforms work how to pair it how to analyze/share workouts I can only say that I’m a happy customer. Watch really can and does everything I would ask from it. I can customize it the way I want. Never really wanted anything apart from metrics on my watch, I’m retty old skool user, don’t really use earphones etc. while exericising so that’s another + for my Ambit as it is really bare to the bones, no nonsense type of watch. And all I want it to remain this way. In which case I see myself sticking to the brand in the future.

@sartoric said in Forget/find phone: @hyungardio-leviossa afair bluetooth smart doesn’t keep the connection always active. So it could be misleading The way it’s implemented by other brands makes it reliable enough to be useful, though depends on expectations and habbits - I personally don’t use phone alerts (notifications on every connect / disconnect ) as I tend to move around a lot without picking up my phone and all that buzzing would be too annoying; but I do use both find my phone & find my watch frequently enough ( like every other time I’m packing in a hurry and am about to empty 2-3 bags to find the missing piece … ) to miss those if taken away. BTW, BT(LE) working range is usually more than people would expect, especially if one node happens to be a phone, my Jabbra headset starts to clip once it’s more than 30m from the source (semi-open office /shop floor) and when I need to do offline sync from Stryd, phone is usually at least 10m from the sensor ( log constuctions bteween)
