The charging cables have a tendency to wear out (stop working) after about two, maybe three, years. I did not notice any significant difference between the factory cables and the cheap replacements. Of course, ymwv.

@Mi_chael sure thing if you have enough “recovery” time. BTW on the Ambit3 you can activate/deactivate interval timers during workout, but can’t edit the timers.

@slaine It should not take 5 min, mine occurs much more quickly than that. It is possible you missed one. I find the vibration is not very strong and typically have both tones and vibration turned on. If you have the intensity screen available it will be grey outside of the specified zone and if outside of the zone you did receive a notification.

@Daniel-Iordache Non Baro S9 doesn’t have any altimeter, it’s just based on GPS data and maybe you had bad GPS coverage

Anyway, see it as a “User-Story” and maybe communicate it to the developer team. Additional, it would be good to see those features on the ambit, cause that’s the classic model which use mountain-guides and other alpinists. There is no sense of purpose to use those newer (expensive) clocks with additional features of smart watches. I know that there are a lot of competitors on the market, but don’t forget the main (often simple) things of outdoor watches. However I think Suunto is still on the right way

Well my S9 is also tracking sleep when not on my wrist (but within sleeping hours). Once I commuted to work by bike (almost two hours) and left it on the bike when taking a shower. It greeted me with good morning when I took it of So I had sleeping hours with almost 3 hours of awake time

@mschick said in Suunto 9 baro bricked - softwareupdate always fails and disconnects: My Suunto 9 baro just became useless I wanted to do a softwareupdate but in the middle of the process the App tells me that the update failed, please reconnect your watch. Here is what I tried: Soft-reset (upper button 12 second)…it worked but the watch was not able anymore to connect to my mobile. reconnect to suunto app (on two different computers)…it worked and the app showed me I need to reset my watch (and delete all data). rest the watch (re-install the current software)…it fails in the same way as mentioned above hard-reset (upper and middle button for 12 sec, then releasing the upper one)…it does the reset and enters the arrow-picture with the first dot solid and the second blinking restart of computer…no change running suunto app as administrator…no change current status: My watch does only reboot into the setup-mode (arrow with one solid dot, one blinking and two circles). The suunto app recognizes the watch but is unable to reset it. So currently the watch is not usable… What can I do? I had a similar issue recently. Using a different laptop helped and reset and installed the FW fine.

@MiniForklift I think now you can consider this “fixed.” Here is the issue, when you decide not to go to your destination, the route will reverse, or change in your case. This is a desired behavior as you do not want your watch always telling you to keep going when you turned around. I reported the original bug as I had the same issue and was routed in the wrong direction. But…we now have waypoints!!! So when doing your ultras (hope that both of ours are not canceled, some of mine have been already) use waypoints and the routing should work properly. I like to add waypoints for aid stations. I have not had time to test this thoroughly but I will to make sure if a waypoint is placed on an overlapping or complex looped route, I won’t get routed the wrong way.

@Chriisii21 Regarding heart rate, and having also a S9 baro I do not have face problems using a Polar H10 strap or Suunto Smart Sensor. Are you sure that is tight enough or wet? Could be that when you are in the MTB it moves and loses contact? Is the battery new? Regarding the fitness level, in my case is quite reliable but a few hints: Define correctly max heart rate and rest heart reate. As far as I know it only works with “running” activities (running, trail running, etc…). Besides if your heart rate is not measured correctly it will give bad/false values.

@AndyD2574 Clunky may be a personal opinion, the UIs are quite different for Garmin vs Suunto, funny I bought and returned a 5x because it was difficult to navigate the UI and seemed “clunky”:). During navigation there is a red arrow that points north, that is the best you will get for now. If you charge the watch, the charger is a strong magnet and will require a re-calibration of the compass. In fact, I have found the magnets on hydration tubes to hold them in place a PIA as every time the watch goes near one I have to recalibrate. The other questions have been answered I think. The Suunto is rock solid with its features, mine does not crash and works effectively, whether I use Navigation or Intervals. The S9b does not have the features that a fenix 6x Pro will have so you need to decide which features are essential. However, Suunto is constantly updating the watch and likely will continue updating until a replacement comes out. Typically the updates contain new features and occur quarterly. The firmware updates undergo extensive field testing by real users…I am one of them, and typically the updates have few bugs. Try the Navigation features, they are well integrated with the app, it is simple to find and upload a route or to draw one. I draw most of my routes on my iPhone, it is painless and quick. Long, complicates routes I do on Gaia on my iPad and drop them into a folder where I can easily import into SA. This is one area where Suunto is well above anyone else imo.

@regger also, leave it for a night in lukewarm water, helps with keeping the sensor clean.
