Are all four contacts on the watch and the pins of the cable clean? I’ve been using the same cable since 2014 until I got this issue. Scraping the contacts clean helped though after a while one of the spring loaded pins of the cable didn’t extend anymore and a new cable solved that.

@angela-angela that is the reason. The distance is updated after at least 15-20m from my experience, and sometimes longer till it knows for good.

@twekkel i didn’t analyse files because i was on mobile only. I just know that distance measured on same route can differ if GPS conditions are not perfect. In case there are different numbers of trackpoints, it must be by different battery mode. It is simple by mistake to change battery mode, so it can be that reason.

I’ve wondered if wearing an old-school wristband below the watch would help. [image: 1607714069130-old-school-vintage-sporty-style-wristbands.jpg]

@johanv hmmm I see. Too bad no resolution is posted (if it has been resolved). Maybe you can contact @Dave-Papadopolis to see if and how he has resolved it? Otherwise contact Suunto support.

@vicoongrou Never tried and will never attempt to but the general advice is indeed to avoid pressing button underwater. I used a lot of watches in high speed water sports. All 100m waterproof and never had an issue. Although I lost an Ambit 3 in the middle of a lake a couple of years ago, but I guess that one is still waterproof on the bottom until this day

@tomas5 @Brad_Olwin Afair target doesn’t work as a unique activity for multisport. I found this behaviour some time ago and I think it was never changed Edit Found it https://forum.suunto.com/topic/1007/training-intensity-target-zones-issue-for-multisport-activity?_=1625518405978

thank you all, i finally restarted the watch by pressing the two upper buttons for about 12 seconds. the watch restarted and after that, the GPS works perfectly and I feel that it is even a bit more accurate i.e. from cold start when you are doing the workout. anyway, thanks for the suggestions. cheers

@Kasper My wife’s S5 has been behaving similarly since yesterday: I did a hard reset, the watch started up, but after a few hours it showed the arrow symbol again and does not respond to any button. Tomorrow I will take it to the store where I bought it and make a claim.

@BrunoH This is satire and a joke about how people rely too much on the tech they wear and social media for their efforts to matter. Here is a piece that makes some sense but maybe I shouldn’t post as a Fieldtester for Suunto:) https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/16/sports/gps-watches-professional-runners.html?searchResultPosition=1

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos cool. Thanks for mentioning steps to reproduce. In fact - I did turn off hr belt as the watch was struggling to lock on to my hr with ohr (which never happens) so I thought maybe it stubbornly wants to connect to hr belt which was impossible at that time. Only after that I thought meh to hell with hr, it’ll figure it out anyway sooner or later and I proceeded to load the route.

You can hear a flebile ticking if you put it really close to your ear, due to the flashing diode … but buzzing can be an electric issue

@Samuli-Sutinen also before you reboot it please, could you press send logs via the SuuntoLink and paste here the ID that it will give you. ? Even better if you can reproduce the issue easily then just after that press send longs.
