@freeheeler I can answer that, it’s called drill mode, once you enable it, you get another screen where every time you reach the end of pool, you manually press a button to add 25 meters and so forth. Once you’re done with legs only or any other type of technique specific swim where hands don’t move at all, you disable it, you’re back to your normal swim screen. The distance swam under this mode gets appended to your total distance of that swim session. This feature has been missing pretty much since the S line of Suunto watches. However it’s a core feature of any swim training, most pool swimmers won’t skip this, only the Suunto watches do

Actually, Suunto counts the same steps as my Garmin does. If you record an activity Garmin presents you the steps per minute and Suunto the revolutions per minute. But the step count is about the same.

@nickk Thanks to everyone for their quick replies. I’m in the UK. It’s not yet available on Amazon UK. I’ve messaged Suunto on Facebook so hopefully they’ll be able to tell me if it will be in stock before shipping starts on the 17th.

Thank you for the replies so far. I would be most interested in a silver bezel (black is too easy to scratch), but do not need titanium. So the onliest option is moss greY. However, this color is really special, so most other wrist bands will not match color wise. That’s my problem here.

@дима-мельниченко said in Step count: @andré-faria s9 step counter is similar in that regard. Maybe suunto kept the algorithm instead of using the one on s3/s5. Thanks for the info.

@nicauj I’m pretty sure it does reach the devs of Suunto. If and when it will get implemented in the watches is another question.

@foxster In cooler weather the blood flow at the surface can be less than in the summer, this will affect optical HR readings. Mine are always worse in the winter and a it gets colder.

thanks for the answers, it’s not related to the temperature when I start, most of these issues have happened during the evening which is warmer, morning runs have been fine mostly. I see I’m not alone with this behavior, so might not be a hardware issue.

@brunoh In iOS the media player can be in the background, it does not need to be launched. BT connections are maintained between the watch and the phone even for multiple watches. I was showing a relative a watch and he started the music on my iPhone.

@egika You are right. I forgot about the HR belt. But one only needs 15-20 minutes of charging thanks to the S9P fast charging and I could go without HR for 15-20 minutes. Also HR can be displayed in a field on the activity screen leaving the ring to show charging status. It was just a sugestion, as I said before I would be grateful for a tiny symbol anywhere on the activity screen.

Suunto CS is saying the mark there is because of the hit. But watch is new. Do they even f…. Know what they are talking about? I always get funny reply from them like they would see watch for the first time.

@herlas You can’t turn the automatic off on Suunto Vertical. So if you manually lap do you get autolaps and manual laps recorded. I have the same issue that brief rests/turns are added to my speed and this adds up over the workout to reduced pace. I’d just like to see my pace more accurately.
