@Adam-Rykala 100% with you on those recommendations. I have a Verity Sense and a Scosche R2+ and have found both of them solid across all my activities. I’ve never trusted wrist-based OHR for anything other than general daily monitoring because I have bony wrists

@The_77 thanks for this interesting point of view it makes sense ! But that way, i’m not sure if it is good enough to mesure performance and load through time

@Bogdan1921 said in To buy, or not to buy a Race, that is the question: So after 5 years, I’ve replaced my old Suunto 9 Baro with Suunto Race. As a first feeling, the watch is looking really really nice. I was curious and I’ve ran 5km to see how it’s working and I’m really impresed by the screen. As a cons, I see the charger a little bit “cheap”, or, it give’s me the feeling that can be moved very easy from the pole of the magnets. I’m happy, thanks Suunto! [image: 1703142386493-unnamed.jpg] Enjoy! I came back to Suunto after leaving when the Ambit 2 (or may have been 3) came out and it didn’t have OHR whereas Garmin did. No regrets about moving away from the Epix Pro whatsoever.

Update from next activity: I have been out for a running activity again following almost the same route as before. In the meantime, a firmware update has been released and I performed the update. Additionally, I have followed the advise from Suunto website’s FAQ and replies in this post: performing a soft reset on the watch and making sure I have synced the watch with the phone before the activity. This time the GPS tracking was nearly spot on. I will keep checking in the coming activities to see how this progresses. Thank you all for the inputs.

@Arie-Rahmadi The distance of the Runn treadmill sensor is exact. You can use it with the standard calibration or calibrate it according to the distance of the treadmill.

@vinc14 as long as you navigate along a route it will work for hiking, cycling, running…. You have no access to any settings except climb guidance alerts on/off

@Mff73 yep, could be another workaround. But it need to be manually reactived after activity. Still just a workaround ^^

@Sta-Rydziad Constructive feedback promotes thought and conversation that can promote improvement. Your feedback is judgemental and frankly how you described the new watch faces,

@Olaf-Gottschalk this weekend up to now my son was sick so I had little time. This forum is a Suunto community forum as seen in the title. Its basically a “depot” for users to communicate with each other add feedback etc , which is monitored by me and others at Suunto , when needed. You will see that many moderators are just Fieldtesters or old forum users. These people have the connections to report issues and advice users here as they have more information available ie via Fieldtesting. Additionally there are some people here like me that monitor the threads , give feedback, user sentiment , create announcements and so on. For example me , Pavel and others. To cut a long story short: yes there are people here from Suunto that get logs , reports issues and post internally to suunto forum threads so Suunto can monitor the threads and act with fixes etc. Sometimes even developers pm those users if needed. The same can happen with oether Fieldtesters and so on. I hope it helps

@isazi It’s a bit of an old topic, but it intrigues me. And isn’t it the case that the Wi-Fi is always off and only turns on when the watch is connected to the charger?

Hey on the topic of always on mode. It was added in some last update but not working as expected (or maybe I’m not setting this up right). So in cycling mode I have display setting in always on + 3 options: off, display only, full awake mode. Non of it allows to have maps screen always on when watch on handlebar. So it’s working on any other screen in cycling mode BUT not maps. Make no sense as you can’t use the function as it’s described so always on. Any plans to change it I next software update. I use my suunto race mounted on handlebar and it’s useless when I want to use maps for direction…

@superweeble True VO2 can be only measured in the lab. Watches, calculators and formulas only give rough estimates: so you can see the trend not the real value.

@far-blue said in Former Garmin user, looking for reassurance: But they are all Garmin’s way of viewing your data And besides that: If just one piece of Garmin‘s data collection does not work (e.g. sleep tracking) the whole ‚system‘ won’t tell you anything useful. While using a Garmin it almost always told me, that I should rest (mainly because my sleep was tracked completely wrong) - sometimes for days

I sent my watch back to Amazon to get a new one and I had exactly the same problem! And just in case, I haven’t updated the firmware. So the problem isn’t hardware. On the other hand, I tried using my company’s wifi network (fibre optic) and it worked !!! But at home it doesn’t work with any of my 2 separate wifi networks! I think there’s a problem in the watch on the software side to manage long downloads on certain wifi networks, something that makes the watch think that the network is no longer available even though it’s functional. That’s it for me, I’ll be loading my cards at the office…

@Shuhite said in Suunto Race Display brightness in Performance Mode: @SuuntoR Sorry, you are correct. It dims, but in my case it’s still easily readible, unless I’m in bright sun (which is rare where I live this time of the year, I didn’t have Amoled in the summer). The Suunto Race AOD is proper AOD. …and I was also wrong. This “true always on display” seems only to work when it’s dark enough. I hadn’t ran in the day time until today. So it seems to use ambient sensor or something. In the day on workout mode, the display also on SR dims. But I think the numbers are clear also when it dims (where I live also not that sunny anymore) and little wrist turn works quickly. Its been couple of months since I had an amoled Garmin watch, so it was more sunny. But still I would say Garmin watches dim more than SR, or maybe I remember wrong and being too harsh on Garmin about this feature pictures with SR on full brightness and “dim mode” attached.
