@Jan-Suchánek There is power management in Ultra mode with the GPS chip so the recording interval will likely vary depending on the connection. The GPS fix will try every second but every second may not be recorded.

@TrailEyes Well we don’t know do we?..I prefer transparency and others maintain secrecy. I neither hide the fact that I am not young, nor do I hide the fact that I am no longer fast, that boat sailed away about 40 years ago:)

Just an idea. Maybe go outside and explore and add the maps later since you forgot to?

@BrunoH Thanks for the reply! That’s not a great news after all, also because openstreetmaps are continuously updated, and we can just hope that Suunto will update them too sooner rather than later…

@mikekoski490 said in running estimate: @David-l Hmmm…well, Ive decided to just sort of ignore that particular data for now until I hear there is a fix. It’s middle of winter and cold/rainy here anyhow. Since Im not running/riding a ton yet, this info isnt crucial (yet). Not running? Mate that’s not good for the soul!

@isazi it is not fixed. Still have the same issue every time I swim. It just changed a little bit, now at the end of the swimming the watch shows the correct distance. In the Suunto app the distance is always 0.

@Audaxjoe said in SUUNTO RACE. Real battery life as sports watch.: @Arju-Ambin you don’t need to turn on OHR when exercising if 24/7 HR is disabled. It will come on automatically. Correct! that is my config: 24/7 OHR Off. The OHR automatically turns on when I start an activity.

@Brad_Olwin Thanks for this information. I came to Suunto with the Race, after 10 years with Garmin. I don’t think Suunto emphasises this positive point enough. I think the altimetry is better managed by Suunto, but Suunto doesn’t say it loudly enough. When I look at the manual for my Race for the FusedAlti tools, it says : “FusedAlti provides an altitude reading that is a combination of GPS and barometric altitude. It minimizes the effect of temporary and offset errors in the final altitude reading. NOTE: By default, altitude is measured with FusedAlti during exercises that use GPS and during navigation. When GPS is switched off, altitude is measured with the barometric sensor.” And when I look at the manual for the Altimeter and Barometer widget, it says, among other things : " Automatic alti-baro profile: Weather and altitude changes both cause a change in air pressure. To handle this, Suunto Race automatically switches between interpreting changes in air pressure as altitude or weather changes based on your movement. If your watch senses vertical movement, it switches to measuring altitude. When you are viewing the altitude graph, it is updated with a maximum delay of 10 seconds. If you are at a constant altitude (less than 5 meters of vertical movement within 12 minutes), your watch interprets air pressure changes as weather changes and adjusts the barometer graph accordingly. It’s a shame that the two pieces of information aren’t available in the same place, I think that would be beneficial. And I don’t think there’s any mention of the fact that FusedAlti can update past altitudes if it deems it necessary. I think I’ve understood that’s how it works from what you’ve said. This is a big difference from Garmin, which will never touch the past minutes of an activity. If you do a loop and come back to the exact same place with a 2000m difference (recorded : +4000d+ and -2000d-) Garmin doesn’t get offended at all ; even if a Garmin function is supposed to manage the altimeter with crazy intelligence…

Randomly the watch doesn’t track sleep. Now two days in a row. Soft reset did nothing. Worked fine for months before this, mostly, with only at most single nights not tracked. The HR sensor also is stubborn on latest version after periods of inactivity. Re-toggling of sensor to On position brings it back to life. Hopefully more robust software in next update or this watch is a warranty return.

Glad to find this topic. Had no clue what oxygen saturation is. After googling got worried why i am still alive. I get anywhere between 85% to 93% readings. Now i know the values the watch give are nonsense. I will turn this ”feature” off

@surfboomerang I’ve always found the Race to be completely locked up & unable to navigate away from that screen in the ‘locked before the prompt’ scenario so can’t do anything further without a soft reset. Slight difference in my situation is that I don’t want my drive home to be recorded as part of the activity whereas in your windsurfing you do (& we’re currently unable to crop the activity on SA like you can in Strava).

@SteM64 strong wind is one source of wrong ascent. Please read Q6 for other possibilities (like your mentioned windproof jacket): https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9960/more-faq
