Suunto Plus apps

@DMytro except sensor/PODs are usually things using standard protocol, while ActiveLook or other upcoming third-party devices are having their own “protocols”, so you can’t implement it once and fully support for any vendor, but rather need support specific vendor device.
I’d think about SuuntoPlus Device Sports App like a “device driver”, which you need to install and use on your desktop OS.
And FW space is also limited, so we can’t put “drivers” for all possible third-party vendors to the FW, but rather make it possible for specific user to install and select only those he needs.

@pavel-samokha makes sense, thanks!
In that case wouldn’t it be better to have another menu in SA like ‘external devices’ where user can choose to send up to, say 3, drivers to the watch s.t. an extra exercise screen isn’t used up, s+ capacity isn’t used up?
Or does the information broadcasting strain the watch too much that it’s indeed comparable to have some other dynamical s+ screens (intuitively, I would say s+ safe, ghost runner and guides probably pull more resources than smth like hydration remainder). -
@DMytro S+ memory capacity is not only about UI shown, but also about actual code running in the background and there are other moving parts. Just to say that 1 S+ app/guide limitation is known issue, but it’s more complex work than could be seen externally.
-
@pavel-samokha I get that and if having an external device connected + running an s+ is too much - that’s fine. What I find a little esthetically displeasing is that active look adds an almost useless screen that one would have to scroll through every time and I wonder is something could be done about it.
But than again, it’s not that I’m going to use activelook anytime soon, was just trying to share my perspective on the matter.
-
@DMytro I got you and agree that may be option to hide the screen could make sense

So, regarding the new SuuntoPlus apps, I really wonder: would it be possible to merge Sun and Moon apps into one Sun/Moon app where one would be able to manually switch between Sun and Moon with the lap button?
-
@inkognito this is a great idea. I’m also wondering if it would be possible to use less memory intense S+ apps together. Like Weather and Sun / Moon? I assume a combo of those would be nice for bushcraft, trails, etc.
-
@Łukasz-Szmigiel Sounds cool! Just don’t forget that guys without barometer (S9 non-baro, S5, S5P) cannot use Weather
Anyway, now I even think that the coolest solution would be to implement Sun/Moon related information somewhere to the Navigaton menu accesible during any exercise with GPS… No need to waste SuuntoPlus functionality on this simple one-time on-demand calculation…

A nice new feature regarding the S+ apps will come with next firmware update, and I believe you will all like it.
-
@isazi activating s+ mid-activity?

Do you mean we’ll run faster with next firmware ?!
-
@taziden Kipchoge has no chance
-
@taziden for all watches with S+ support?
-
@halajos yep
-
@Egika In March?
-
@isazi s+ app “make me faster” would be no 1 in the store

Ability to use both Guide and App (such as Manual Intervals) simultaneously would be great.

BigNumbers is more like BigDaytime right? At least on S9PP the time of the day is the biggest number and the top and bottom can’t be read that easily
-
I have another feedback for manual hill repeats s+ app. I see the HR value is emphasized in red and that’s nice. But I think suunto could convey additional information by colouring the HR value according to the zone one currently trains in. Would be a very welcome addition also in the other s+ apps.

It seems I’ve spotted a bug in s+ manual hill repeats - numbers overlap.
