Suunto 9 Baro crashes / restarts at the beginning of a training
-
@sartoric I’m not sure. However a bug that makes a device/product unusable should warrant some kind of public statement from any brand.
-
@TyreseJ4 what do you mean it’s not acceptable?
Should Suunto disclose the code stack or so?
That said the fix is not out in public to have any statement attached and not all users are affected from what I understand and is said here as well.
It’s not a railway accident to be honest to right now try to play a blame game in order to avoid future mistakes.
So please let’s not concentrate on negativity, it doesn’t help and only ruins our emotions. .
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos If my comment was offensive or detrimental to someone else’s “emotions,” feel free to remove them. Honestly I don’t think I need to contribute much more to the topic as I have already moved on which I’ve already said. I wish Suunto the best and hope things get better.
-
@TyreseJ4 why would I remove it ? It’s totally ok to speak freely. No need to only contribute here btw.
You are always welcome to chat or even express how things are on the “other side”
What I wanted to express is that we should move on with negativity, it does not help us as beings.

It started to happen more and more since I moved to another address where there is a kind of GPS cloud area. And then happened on another clouded area nearby. Maybe it´s a GPS sync or Resync problem?
-
@TiagoSPM and in my case the activity screen was freezing for 3-10 seconds a few times and then it crashed.
-
So today I had my first restart, after 4 days of skiing
-
@Pavlas are you testing the new firmware with the fix?
-
I have the same issue. Bought a new 9 Baro directly from Suunto in January. Every 2nd-3rd activity the watch would blank out and restart a minute or so after I started the activity. I contacted Suunto who told me to hard reset it with the Suunto computer software which I did.
Now it has worked great for 10 activities or so, but today it went blank again an rebooted after 4 km running when taking a short pause. Guess I have to contact Suunto support again… It’s not reliable at all unfortunately
-
@isazi No…
-
@dryflypurist contact @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos because there is a fix being tested, and all people trying it so far had no reboots.
-
@Pavlas ask @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos if you want to test it.
-
@isazi Thank you! You mean this firmware?
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos said in Reboot during activities:

@Pavlas oh yes, that one I believe

I got a mail from Suunto customer support today which was a very decent reply on the issue. The acknowledged the issue and told me they’re working on it and if I wasn’t into sending it in for service, they could provide me with a firmware update which was still in work/testing. - Which I believe would be the one shared here.
Anyway, I think this was a positive action from Suunto and I’m way more positive to keep the watch now and just wait for the official release. In my experience it’s rare that companies answer this honest. Kudos to Suunto in my opinion

Hello!
In the patched firmware I get very low step counts during exercise. 7km run 2650 steps.
The clock calculates well because the widget numbers are good. Thanks
-
I’ve sent another mail to their support agreeing to try out the new unfinished firmware. Sent the email after I had the watch reboot on me 3 times when trying to do a treadmill run. The 4th time it finally worked. It will be interesting to try the unreleased firmware. Hopefully it does the trick as others has reported️
-
Soon there will be a public release with the fix. ETA 1-2 weeks or so
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos just the fix or new things also?
-
@DMytro only fix for this release
