speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches
-
@TyreseJ4 there are watches that only give the time and are valuable thousands of dollars.
-
@Bulkan each to their own. Some prefer looks over substance, some substance over looks while some prefer a good balance. Hence we have diversity.
-
@mikekoski490 It’s generally one (or both) of these two things:
- Customizable Triathlon mode. Currently with Suunto watches you can either use the default triathlon mode, which means no choice on the values shown OR use manual multisport with customized individual legs, but then you lose transitions
- Specific Duathlon and Swimrun modes with transitions, similar to Triathlon
-
@TyreseJ4 you conclusion is not correct. If your read the last sentence of my message more carefully you will get it.
Cheers.
-
@Bulkan That’s true, but we buy them with that knowledge ahead of time. Also good quality is based on the type of watch (or other product) that you’re buying. For example, not all analog watches are equal depending on the manufacturer. But you already know that. However in this discussion we’re talking about GPS sports watches. But yes, to each his own. That’s why I said okey dokey.
-
@Joaquin This is not a sign of disrespect - people just want to know. Now half of them are pissed because they didn’t see
Ask them what they wear on their wrist and you will find that they respect your work. This community also adds its work. No offence.
Good day! -
@aroo7 agree, please everyone don’t be offended if your post got deleted, we try our best to serve the community without getting yelled on by Suunto

– omissis (mod) – but webpage is not available when you open link. Pls don’t ban me
-
@Likarnik said in speculations and rumours about upcoming Suunto watches:
Pls don’t ban me
If you know, you shouldn’t do
-
@sartoric Well, I didn’t post any data and I don’t know the rules as they are changing on the fly. No hard feelings, we are all excited
-
@Likarnik
Rules are simpleSo the rule is: no leaks. No pictures, no names, no links, just discuss what you look for in a new watch, what you don’t want, what you expect.
-
@sartoric ok ok, I so I obeyed all rules but provided too much info where data can be found.
I expect new watch will be pricier than current Suunto flagship
-
@Likarnik honestly, I would like prices to go down, but I am sure they will not. Everything is more expensive now, watches or non watches.
My previous rule was: no watch costing more than 350EUR.
-
@isazi harsh reality I’m willing to pay more if there is significant upgrade (at least for me and my needs).
-
@isazi It is a good rule but unfortunately from distant past.
-
@dulko79 seems to be. Take for eg Garmin, which charges close to 500€ for a Forerunner 200-series. This is a plastic watch that was priced around €200 not too long ago. I would be more than happy to pay €500 if a watch offered durability and longevity but sadly no Garmin watch does. Don’t really understand how people recommend them.
-
@altcmd I never recommend them and try to always bring arguments on the table that will show people they do not need everything that is offered to them and they are charged for it… walk the dog is a sport…
Some valid arguments were the: maps and navigation and the training plans Garmin has embedded. With Suunto Coach I think this will be tackled not sure but the maps though since Garmin has decades of experience there.
I would gladly buy topo maps if they can be loaded to the new watch or buy maps directly from Suunto. Let’s not forget SW needs constant development hence constant influx of money. That’s why Garmin charges these ‘subscriptions’ with the watch (plastic) they sell. -
@Hristijan-Petreski I missed this - what is Suunto Coach?
-
@altcmd It’s still in beta (e.g.: https://forum.suunto.com/post/117145) but basically if you choose training zone tab on your android at the bottom there is the Suunto coach insights. This combined with the Suunto guides is similar to daily suggestions and training plans of Garmin.
-
@Hristijan-Petreski but for now it’s not yet combined with the guides.
