I think it’s about time for Suunto to reach out to past customers, ask what platform they moved to and what would it take to bring them back, really

Maybe next time things like structured workouts, Training Peaks workout import, training load reports and analysis, and yes, offline maps would take priority over a snorkeling mode and half baked social aspects of the Suunto app?

And yes, I’m keenly aware Suunto has a lot of telemetry data of features used, market research, and what not. And that some things, like Google’s stab in the back and pivot to Samsung and WearOS 3 effectively undercutting S7 couldn’t have been predicted, but still…

I can’t help but wonder how would Vertical look like in the world with different set of priorities? Would we have multiple sensors per type? Emoji in text messages and no ghost notifications? Multiple S+ apps and a guide combined? Custom reminders? Track mode? Estimate of fuel sources used similar to Polar’s FuelWise? Perhaps, a morning recovery summary similar to Garmin’s Training Readiness? A web based front end like COROS Training Hub? Watch ECG-based morning HRV measurement and tracking?

On production firmware? Because as of now, the docs say you can have multiple apps, but not an app + guide, even on Vertical. And I’d really prefer two apps (one ActiveLook glasses and the other whatever, say, Loop) and a guide…

@NickK yes, it works, but only with guides planned with TP or other third parties for now I believe. At the beginning of the activity the watch will tell you “you have this planned today etc.”, say yes, then scroll down and add an app.

@isazi What about structured workouts that are scheduled to a specific day? Wouldn’t that work similar to third party guides?

@NickK I haven’t tried, it may. I believe that the update in few weeks will make the guide+app combo work for any guide.

I just checked this and you will be able to run a Structured Workout and a S+App at the same time.

Just received my vertical today. First Suunto watch. When using the touchscreen I have to press the middle button first or it doesn’t work. Is this normal? Also, the weather widget says I have to sync the watch with the app first but when I try to do that it gets stuck on optimising GPS. How do I fix this?

Yes, the screen will lock without activity, a button press will allow touch to be active.
The app may take some time to transfer AGPS file, are you on Android or iOS, store version or beta?
