What is actually the official stance from Suunto towards this? Are they denying this problem? It seems their 2 newest (and most expensive) watches, the 9 Peak Pro and the Vertical are affected by this quality failure.

Just because you see a couple examples on the forum doesn’t mean it’s a quality issue.

So you both want to tell me this is just coincidence that at least 3 people in this forum have this problem? Okay, lets say just a small percentage of Suunto users worldwide are registered in this forum. From those there are many inactive accounts. And then still subtract the users of other Suunto watches except the Vertical and 9 Peak pro. So yes, this can’t be just coincidence. It seems clearly that there is a problem with the sensor of these 2 watches.

Well, you can understand in another way,

If you didn’t see any issue on the forum, it doesn’t mean it has no issue in real life.

I didn’t say that. But I guess in most industries to be consider a quality issue it has to be a certain percentage.
If suunto sold like 2000 s9p and sv, 3 or even 5 are less than 1%, I would say rather an exception than a quality issue that should have a recall.
It happens, they solve it and done.

I have the same problem as described. WHR measures very often total nonsense values. It is not reliable at all. Will send it back. IMG_3376.JPG

I got my watch back from repair 3 weeks ago, and I can already see some bubble forming on the brand new sensor, I haven’t exposed the watch to anything else than water and sweat, its worrying…fed2f368-eaee-4477-bf11-d24d74f90961-image.png

@martintrail Looks like a possible defective batch/material. I have written down all the serial numbers in the entire topic here, the first customer had problems with serial number 2302, then came 2306, then 2311 and finally 2316. Maybe this is faulty production in 2023 from week 02 to week 16?! Could be, right? My Vertical had the same problem, I got a new watch as a replacement after waiting 1 month. Since then, I have made sure that the watch does NOT come into contact with soap, shower gel, cream, sunscreen, chlorine, swimming pools, etc. To clean the sensor I got a piece of leather, don’t wipe the sensor with a tissue, towel, clothing or microfiber cloth. I take the watch off to shower, clean, etc. So that ONLY clear water gets onto the sensor. Even after exercise, the watch is only washed with clean water. NO more problems since then. No bubbles, no scratches nothing. But it’s SAD that such an expensive watch that Suunto ncoh praises as being military tested breaks and disintegrates because of little things! Sorry SUUNTO, another THING and you’ve missed the last chance that all Suunto customers give again and again! Everything has an end!

My S9PP failed completely when charging. Before sending it to Suunto I examined it carefully and there were very small bubbles near one of the charging connectors. Serial number beginning 2249, so a little earlier than those you listed.
I don’t know if that was related to the failure - because after 3 weeks with Suunto all they’ve managed to do is email me to say it will be even longer than the 4 weeks originally quoted (which itself was unacceptably long) - stating the reason as the large number of broken/faulty watches they are receiving.
I’m not sure why Suunto thinks it’s acceptable to leave a customer without a watch for more than a month, little more than 6 months after paying more than £500 for it. But, after 5 Suunto watches, I doubt I’ll buy another after my experience with the Peak Pro.

@GiPFELKiND The “faulty production batch” idea could be valid if my replacement sensor (warrantied during august, 5 months after I bought the watch) was’nt also affected.
I had to use sunscreen late augustr, maybe that’s what affected it, but if yes its such a shammmmmmmmmmmeeeee

                                        I don’t think it’s a batch issue but a cheap plastic foil issue. 😬😜

Same problem here. Just bought the watch 2 months ago (to replace a non-functional S5P by the way…). So now it’s clearly not an isolated issue…(a lot of S9PP & Vertical seem affected when reading the forum!)

See photo attached: Numerous little (for now) bubbles of variable size, emerging from the back of the watch… I am worried that some of them may finally affect the sensors! This is unacceptable for a watch at this price to use such low quality materials !!

I precise that I did not use any sunscreen, hand lotion, or soap (I remove the watch when I go to shower), and I don’t swim with it (just running with some sweat production of course!). After every run I lightly wipe it with a microfibre towel.

What can we do? Even if Suunto replaces it and after reading all the comments, I am quite sure we’ll have the same issue with a new watch. Does someone from Suunto could answer?

I also think this is my last Suunto device…
