@vjakub I have been using it for kite surfing. Still very clicky šŸ™‚ - but this is no guarantee.

My crown just stopped being clicky as before over the weekend. It became softer, almost non clicky, it is now hard to figure out is it pressed or not. I never shower with watch, go into water or anything similar.

          Hi everyone,

          SOLUTION!!!

I had the same problem and I tried all kind of solutions (cleaning, different oils, spraying…)
The solution is specifically ā€œWD40 white lithium greaseā€ spray. Crown is clicking like a first day!
I put WD few days ago and crown is still perfectly clicky.
I hope this will work for you as well.

I’m not really sure that lithium is the best option for a watch crown button, lithium grease is usually used for heavy duty or high speed component.
I’m afraid it will act as a dust trap in long term

Maybe some gentle compressed air shot or just rinse it with luke warm water.

I would be careful with lubrication, cleaning solvents and liquids in general in combination with sealing materials.
we don’t know the material composition of the watch’s sealing and some content might damage seals

                Hi,

for two days I have noticed the same thing with the crown button but not every time I push it. Due to the fact that it isn’t anytime, it makes me think it might be caused by the larger size of the button. I mean, it might depend on which point you press.

@General_Witt so, thanks to some genius who showed me that my words for describing my ā€œcrown button feelā€ actually lead to your post, I am here.

I got exactly the same issue. It started somewhere in December, my Race was about one month old.

Somehow the clickiness comes and goes for me, it’s almost always there but sometimes it feels clicky again.

I personally hate the ā€œsquishynessā€ and the missing tactile feel when it is in ā€œbadā€ state.

Also, I somehow fear that even replacing the unit will lead to exactly the same situation sooner or later. And I would not like to be without the watch for more than a day.

What have you done since then? Any news?

@Olaf-Gottschalk I have experienced similarly. The clickyness sometimes is less to be felt. If I go swimming etc, it comes back.
That makes be think that some residue in the mechanism is damping it. And by flushing or cleaning it otherwise, it comes back.

Since I don’t think it is a defect, but dirt, I am fine with this so far.
Using the wheel or the button makes the click come back.

@Olaf-Gottschalk Same here. I can report that maybe the issue is warm enviroment, hand etc. In my case it often happens in the morning after the sleep, when watch is somehow warmed from body, etc. Never had this when mounted (on handlebar) on my MTB rides. My solution for the moment is gently push the crown with fingernail out. It seems that it’s somehow stucked in press position. True that I did’t try to put some lubricant as some others did (WD40 silicone). Obviouslly it’s a hardware issue, as reported from many users. Since the crown functionality is not the problem so far (only crisp clickness) I’ll live with that, until Suunto will officialy put solution, or even recall watches to service/replacement???

@soisan why? Suunto should know how normal users feel about this, don’t you think?

I think respect for a company starts by great products that don’t give users problems and IF they do an outstanding service with the least impact to the user.

In what why my respect to other users is affected by criticism towards a company they also suffer from, I can’t see.

@Olaf-Gottschalk It wasn’t your first post with disrespectful comments about other members of this forum or Finnish engineers… There were enough mentions of these facts by other users which you choose to ignore. You insist instead to refer all the time to your right to criticise a company and your personal sufferings which result from the bad policies of this company. You also present yourself as one of the few responsible users that through criticism try to help Suunto improve its products and services.
I’m trying one last time to make myself clear and avoid any misunderstandings. Finding a problem, a bug, a mistake in respect to the function, design or quality of a product and writing about it, asking for corrections or suggesting possible improvements is what a big part of this forum is about. I read your findings, suggestions and remarks with great interest and although I don’t always agree with you, I appreciate your involvement and insights.
What I have a problem with is your tendency to get personal with and insult other users that don’t have the same opinion with you, share your suggestions or agree with your sentiments. I don’t mind reading that Suunto has a bad policy concerning returning and repairing defective products but I feel bad when somebody is called ironically ā€œgeniusā€ because he dared to mention that there is already an earlier post about the same problem that you have with your watch! I really appreciate your insights about possible software shortcomings of the Race but I get angry when these insights lead to a collective disapproval (to put it mildly) of the professional adequacy of a whole nation…
Dear Olaf, nobody has a problem with your criticism or your opinions, it’s the way you sometimes refer to other people that opens the door for bad feelings. As the Germans say, ā€œder Ton macht die Musikā€!

@ppresing The rotating crown sometimes has less lift when I press it. I only can faintly feel the small moving when pressure on it. When I lift it up, I can again feel more movement when pushing, just like when I first used it…
                                        Does anyone have such experiences?
My problem is the same and thanks for redirecting to this thread. I have never bathed or showered with the watch on, and it happens to me in the morning when I get up or during the day, as you also write. And a gentle pull out helps, then the clicking resumes.

                                          SOLUTION 2.0

Began experiencing the same ā€œsilentā€ or ā€œsoftā€ click with my 6 month-old Race. Took a sterile, individually wrapped alcohol pad and slipped it in the open spaces around the crown to give good rub. The crown is again clicking as it did when new.

                                          IMG_3657.png

There was no visible debris or other markings on the alcohol pad after the cleaning, so I’m unsure what the issue may have been. Regardless, my Race now functions as expected.
