@Brad_Olwin Very pleased
Was 1,5 weeks to return
-
@matthinsh Why do you find that odd? I purchased this watch for myself. Clearly there was an issue with the coating on the HR module. I had it serviced and the Suunto Service does not know that I test for Suunto, it was handled by the standard methods. I filled out a warranty return with proof of purchase and photos of the issue. Sent the watch off, checked the progress and it was returned 1.5 weeks later.

@Brad_Olwin damn dude, you are luckkkkkkyyy
-
@Jacobus It only looks weird on the picture. Pins are just fine - as new…

@Brad_Olwin Nice, but I’m not so optimistic. Central European service center is in Prague. Last time it was exactly 30 days. If they would extend this this period, they would have to return the payment in full. I think this time it will be the same. If this issue comes for the third time I’m entitled to demand money return no matter what. Will see, if there is back cases without coating problem for service available.
I still don’t understand why they clear coat it… No one else does that I think, weird…
I haven’t seen here anyone who has this problem on Race, so there is still hope.
Meanwhile, I will use my old Ambit P3. Still good, but I’m already used for much lighter unit -

I do know there was a problem with this predominately on the 9PP, which AFAIK has been corrected. It is unfortunate you go through a service center, mine was direct to Finland from the US. Seems unacceptable to me as I am not sure the issue is with the actual repair time.
I have had a test Race for a long time with no issues on the HR module coating, using some time prior to release.

My 2cts. My service is in Slovenia. The watch was sent from Spain and they received it in less than 24 hrs. I will post here when do they send it back. When I asked if this would take long, they simply said “It takes time”, I asked for some estimation, and replied the same. Let’s see.
The good part is that I am not able to do any exercise for a couple of months, at least, due to a knee surgery. Therefore, no pressure here

@Efejota lol I’m also in recovery from some last year shenanigans, its the best time to send my watch back, very good idea, thanks for the tips lol

@Brad_Olwin i find it odd because you seem pleased to have defects with a watch. I can see why Suunto have you as a tester…
On a more serious note, that is a fast turn around, I had similar with a Spartan back in 2018/2019. Their service was brilliant (Though not to the point that I was happy to send a watch back because of a defect, that would be weird!).
My wife’s 9PP however, went back so have GPS problems fixed and took two months (and a new unit). So poor that she gave up and has gone back to her Garmin. But also sounds quite lucky compared to others here?

I am not pleased with the defects, I was not happy that I had to return the watch. I am pleased that the turn around was so quick. I think a turn around time longer than two weeks is simply unacceptable.

they have definitely come to know about your health issues so there’s no hurry
joking aside, I wish you a speedy recovery! -
Finally, my wtch arrived before my good shape In fact, it was delivered on thursday morning, 9 days since I sent sent. In my honest opinion, a fantastic timing. Sometimes I have the impression that we want everything to happen just now and have almost no patience. 9 days to repair it in a different country seems no time, but maybe because I grew up in a world where distances and times were a bit different.
As on the repair, it seems that the back plate is new, as you can see. My only complain is that it was reset and I need to set my personalized sports again. Please, Suunto, add back-up capablities

I just picked up a S9PP, literally an hour ago. I really like it! I bought it locally and I have 90 day return window. If it goes bad, I will go back to my Ambit 3 Peak. I only wish the display was a bit larger.

@Efejota what repair center? directly finland?
-
@dombo Slovenia.
-
@Efejota I would like a backup as well. Many custom sport modes…

Dear friends, my S9PP are back from service. It took two weeks exactly. Not bad. I’m satisfied. Back case replaced again. Now it looks like it is different one. Titanium on it is more fine brushed than on previous two pieces. It is much more shiny and edges are sharp as hell
Anyway, sensor on the back seems to be coated differently too. It is more solid and better feel. Hard to describe this. SN is 2405xxxxx so the newest one. I hope that it will be solved for good.
Problem is factory default settings, but I was counting on it so no surprise. First two training sessions were bit disappointing, because OHR measures nonsense - it will adapt after few days. I remember it was like this after big update and new algorithms. After few days it was spot on for me. Will see if this happens again.
On today night it stopped to measure. In the morning was sensor off and I had to restart the watch. This behavior was present on my watch already two times before and I saw more users reporting this issue. Hope for update which hopefully solves this bugs. -

is it possible to see a picture of it? Thank you!

@robis ![alt text]
It is more feel as visible design changes. It is more glossy and surface feel harder. Just compare with my previous posts.

UPDATE. After one week of use still no visible changes on the back side of the watch. Looks brand new.
BUT!!! It seems, that my opinion that watch will adapt and calibrate itself, was totally wrong. Measures total nonsense. Without belt is this piece not usable at all. So I will summarize my experience. First sensor - the original one, measures total nonsense and bubbles as hell. Second sensor measures very accurate and bubbles as hell. The third one - actual one, measures nonsense, bubbles not. Constantly faulty hardware from my point of view. The second one was the best. From the same batch as the first one. It looks, that they struggle a lot with quality constancy.
Today gym session - belt 154bpm OHR 76bpm at interval spit squat. On the beginning, before warmup, belt 73bpm OHR 101bpm. Today it generated random numbers. Finger on my neck is much more accurate then thisI’m soooo frustrated. My brother in law bought himself S Race last week and guess what - measures total nonsense. I love my 9PP but I will probably sell it and purchase Epix PRO instead. It is twice the price, but it is not question of price. I just wat it to WORK. Until there will be new hardware for OHR it doesn’t make any sense to me to struggle with this. All major competitors presented already new generation of OHR but SUUNTO. This one is originally from S9P with some update (or not?) used still in models from 2023. 9P was launched in summer 2021. It is ton necessary to wear the watch 24/7, because for example night measures are from OHR – is it reliable? Or totally out? I don’t know. HRV? Same thing.
