Sensors full of Bubbles, Plastic peels off.
-
@pavel-samokha Thank you for your response. Funny how the customer support just told me that this is of no concern and I should just peel the plastic cover of. Like it wasn’t a known issue. It just sucks to not have the watch for some time as I’m currently preparing for an ultra Marathon and depend on the watch and the delays seem to be pretty bad from what i read on this forum.
-
@el_senderos sounds like a incompetend Service If you peel of the coating like the suunto service say to you your guarante is away … How could they Tell you this… Sent it to repair!!!
-
@GiPFELKiND Yes, probably have to do so. tried another time with someone else and they comically told me to go to a watch mechanic to fix the problem. I mean a WATCH MECHANIC - working on a tech device - cmon. I wonder where and how their customer support is trained.
-
In my case, I contacted them today and instructed me to place a Service Order. They told me “it happens rarely”. I already placed the order.
-
@Efejota I just hope that it will be fixed forever. It clearly can’t be a problem due to sweat or chemicals as my unit had bubbles straight out the box but i just thought that it was normal unit the coating actually started peeling off.
-
OK folks, I’m back again with my bubbles issue. Today my patience is over. I sent my SPP9 to seller back again. I want my money back, because the service is probably not able to permanently solve this issue. This is second time I have exact the same issue.
I bought my watch for training purposes, not for having them in service center for months. I’m really frustrated. And when I saw the communication with service center above, I already lost my remaining loyalty to my beloved SUUNTO.
Is there any chance that Race hasn’t this sensor problem?
After update I was really happy with the watch, even the readings from the sensor were good enough. But coating is peeling again off as hell and nobody from SUUNTO cares. I have never seen any official information, that they have faulty batch of sensors. Even worse – they use this faulty sensors as spare parts for warranty repairs. Shame. -

I see, hope service gets better
-
@robis Last time it was exactly 30 days…
-
@AntoniusGaius I know they have had difficulty finding replacement parts, and this unfortunately has lengthened the service time
-
@AntoniusGaius It’s bizarre that this happens to you twice!
The pins used for charging also look strange, these are normally chrome plated but in the photo they look like they are made of copper and the chrome has come off. -
@AntoniusGaius I just sent my S9PP in for bubbles on the HR sensor from the US. Was 1,5 weeks to return. I was very pleased.
-
@Brad_Olwin Very pleased that you had to send your watch in for servicing due to a hardware defect? How very odd!

@matthinsh Why do you find that odd? I purchased this watch for myself. Clearly there was an issue with the coating on the HR module. I had it serviced and the Suunto Service does not know that I test for Suunto, it was handled by the standard methods. I filled out a warranty return with proof of purchase and photos of the issue. Sent the watch off, checked the progress and it was returned 1.5 weeks later.
-
@Brad_Olwin damn dude, you are luckkkkkkyyy
-
@Jacobus It only looks weird on the picture. Pins are just fine - as new…

@Brad_Olwin Nice, but I’m not so optimistic. Central European service center is in Prague. Last time it was exactly 30 days. If they would extend this this period, they would have to return the payment in full. I think this time it will be the same. If this issue comes for the third time I’m entitled to demand money return no matter what. Will see, if there is back cases without coating problem for service available.
I still don’t understand why they clear coat it… No one else does that I think, weird…
I haven’t seen here anyone who has this problem on Race, so there is still hope.
Meanwhile, I will use my old Ambit P3. Still good, but I’m already used for much lighter unit -

Meanwhile, I will use my old Ambit P3. Still good, but I’m already used for much lighter unitI do not know the reason for the coating either, maybe waterproofing? I do know there was a problem with this predominately on the 9PP, which AFAIK has been corrected. It is unfortunate you go through a service center, mine was direct to Finland from the US. Seems unacceptable to me as I am not sure the issue is with the actual repair time.
I have had a test Race for a long time with no issues on the HR module coating, using some time prior to release.

My 2cts. My service is in Slovenia. The watch was sent from Spain and they received it in less than 24 hrs. I will post here when do they send it back. When I asked if this would take long, they simply said “It takes time”, I asked for some estimation, and replied the same. Let’s see.
The good part is that I am not able to do any exercise for a couple of months, at least, due to a knee surgery. Therefore, no pressure here
