Another sleepless night with firmware update bright screen at 02:30! When is this going to end?
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk They’d be better off closing that thread — it might give us all a much-needed break from your attitude.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk Hi, I’ve been reading this forum for a while now, and you are by far the most arrogant and unpleasant writer. You are aggressive and always whining and then you wonder why nobody wants to help you. I have never read anything positive from you, which is bit strange considering this is a forum for sportwatches, not an offical feedback chanel.
And yes, I get that you have problems with your watch, and I’m sorry that causes you harm. We all would like have things going our way, but that is not always the case. But if a notification causes you that much trouble and emonational stress I highly suggest that you put your watch in to a drawer and go out for a walk. A device, even a faulty one, should not have such an impact on anyone.
Best of luck to your future troubles

@Ghost ok. What attitude are you talking about?
That I don’t like to get woken up by a piece of software with a bug?
The only completely valid answer was by someone mentioning that there actually IS a switch that might help.Even that got ridiculed by some freaks that seem to imply that I have deliberately switched it on, which I have not.
Respect means: hey, here is someone who got woken up by firmware updates at least 4 times already, has been looking for help and all he got was disrespectful answers and no help?
Yeah. I like your attitude. Not.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk Your frustration is understandable, but the way you’re expressing it comes off as hostile and dismissive toward others. People are more likely to help when the conversation stays respectful — especially when what you’re barking about is a feature under your control.
-
@logger TBF even with auto update enabled, why should the update be more important than a DND? Just wait until DND is turned off for notification…
I had a similar gripe with my Fenix 6 that would make me up in the middle of the night to ask wether it should switch to power saving mode as it only had battery for 12 hours or so. While I was in within the sleeping window and sleeping. And wakeup time was well within that 12 hour window…

What exactly are you talking about???
I asked this months ago for the very first time it happened and woke me up.
NOBODY respectfully answered my post with a seemingly simple “there is a switch, hidden in the About dialog”. Nobody. Zero. Most users replying were disrespectful in that they mocked me with “does not happen to me” to “why do you even care?”.And now your statement here: “a feature under my control”? Hey. That was literally what I was hoping for: somebody pointing at this setting (which defaults to ON) and on top of that sone Suunto programmers that are also here stating that of course DND should be respected and that they will fix this bug.
None of that happened. It did not happen the first time I posted this last year, didn’t happen the last time in January, didn’t even happen today - until one user pointed out there is this setting.
And now you moan that I “barked about a feature under my control”. Why don’t you see the problem?
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk While I understand you may have frustrations, I suggest that you consider participation in another forum. Your focus on personal demands and expectations, rather than respectful engagement with others, is disruptive to the constructive atmosphere we hope to find here. Specifically, labeling other members “freaks,” questioning their mental well-being, and demanding their removal (all in one thread) is unacceptable.I’m not taking either side, but I don’t particularly want to see this incessant negative language either.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk Yeah, yeah. You’re always right and the whole world around you is wrong — got it. I’m done arguing. I’ve made my points. Respect others if you expect to be respected is all I have to say. Good luck.

Look.
1, It seems like you are the only one who has this issue. For everyone else the watch just silently updates over night and shows the result screen in the morning
2. The automatic update toggle in the app is likely on for almost everyone out there
3. Plus the funny thing is, that even if switched off, it updates the watch regardless. This is obviously a bug and has been filed.
So I would not be sure that it solves your problem. -
@Egika this is so unlikely.
How can it be that I see a screen that you say nobody else sees? I’m a software developer and I can tell you: that is almost 100% unlikely that I am the only one where a watch shows a “secret screen” that nobody else sees. Now, people accuse me of being stupid because of a feature “am I totally in control of” where you directly say (which I also agree to!) that it likely does not fix this. The trouble is I will only find out for sure on the next update.
It somehow feels surreal - I get woken up for at least the last 4 firmware updates and my only hope was to raise attention of someone in charge at Suunto - investigating and fixing this.
People get rude and accuse me of being stupid and having a feature on that basically states “wake me at night”. The answers go from “why do you care”, “my watch does not do this” to “switch off Bluetooth every night” or “it’s your fault when you have auto update enabled”.
I even feel people seem to accuse me of faking this. I take pictures at 2:30 in the night, showing what woke me again - only to read “you clicked this”…
What do you think I should do to get updates, but without disturbance?

Who exactly did I not respect?!?
The ones telling me I am stupid?
The ones answering I should shut up and it’s my own fault?
What’s wrong with you? -
Dimi already responded that he is following up on this one internally.
I think this is where this tread ends being meaningful. More messages every five minutes won’t help -
@Maximilian-Mustermann fyi - this forum is hosted by Suunto and offers help.
My product is behaving faulty with every update.
I don’t want or need answers from the community that tell me I am to blame when my watch wakes me at night, this is extremely disrespectful. Why do people even answer if they don’t know anything about the problem?
I want Suunto programmers attention to bugs. Not people telling me I did something wrong and not being able to tell me what exactly I did wrong when my watch goes on while on DND. -
@Olaf-Gottschalk Thank you for the information. It has indeed occurred to me that forum.suunto.com could be a forum hosted by Suunto. However: This is a community and not an official support forum.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk mate, judging from other threads you’ve posted - there’s likely something wrong with your particular device. Maybe you can get a replacement at this point?

Of course I would accept a replacement unit. But how a software issue like this can be fixed by hardware is something I would really like to understand…
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk possibly there is some underlying software issue that can’t be fixed via the Suunto App. I’m with @Łukasz-Szmigiel that you just have a faulty watch or faulty software on your watch…
Nevertheless, IMHO it is time to talk to the support and not to the people here in the forum.
-
@Olaf-Gottschalk It’s not a show of disrespect at all, just a comment on how you tend to behave in this forum. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, you tend to create a lot of pushback when you come in here ranting and raving about your watch being garbage, the engineers being idiots, and everybody in the forum being morons. As someone else said, you’d probably get a better response—here as well as elsewhere in life (?)—if you moderated your tone a bit. Anyway, just an idea!

Found this interesting, no idea why… (everyone has their own domain of expertise):
The malignant narcissist reveals himself not through open hostility, but through calculated dominance. He enters with confidence, often flaunting expertise to assert superiority. He demands validation, belittles dissent, and cloaks insults in passive-aggressive civility.
He thrives on conflict, stoking arguments while playing the misunderstood intellectual. He rewrites narratives to position himself as either the hero or the victim — never the instigator. Rules are tools to be bent, and moderators are either allies or enemies.
His goal isn’t discussion, but control — to reshape the space around his ego and silence anything that threatens it.
The thread was about sleep, so… wishing everyone a peaceful night.

@Ghost nice, made my day
