Software Update 2.40.38 (2025 Q1)
-
I updated my Suunto Race two days ago. And it has not tracked sleep for two nights in a row.
Disappointing. I suppose today I will soft-reset it and test again tonight.
-
Pool swim metrics are still quite unreliable in this update unfortunately.
I’ve done 6 swims since installing the update. They all get my stroke correct (breast), but the distance - and thus pace etc - is pretty hit and miss. I had one 1400m swim where the watch was dead on, I’ve had a few where it has missed the first 10 or so lengths, then picked up and got the rest more or less correct. This is annoying, but I can kinda live with that. But then today I did 1200m and the watch only recorded 240m (see attached screenshot). Also attached is one 1200m session where it missed the first 10 lengths or so.
The last reliable firmware for pool swimming (before the new algorithm) was 2.39.20. So might have to revert back to that.
It would be really appreciated if you could fix the swim tracking
-
@seanvk I had the same. I went back to the previous version and then re-installed the new version. After that it has worked. Seems that there can happen errors during the installing process.
-
@TuomasK what’s always weird is that it seems to work for some users and for others it won’t. I got a free month of Whoop and since I could use my son’s whoop (he cancelled his subscription) I thought I could let it run „against“ the Race during the easter holidays and for me sleep on the Suunto Race works pretty well with the the new Firmware
-
@ChrisA For me now it is on pair with Oura and damn accurate to how I sleep and wake up. The only inconsistency I have is in the app sometimes. I.e: sleep in the training zone says I slept 5:12h and the sleep widget 6:04
-
@seanvk Just as an update. The soft reset restored the sleep tracking.

I had a similar experience to yours.
I did two factory resets and nothing!
After sending it to the service center, tests and configurations were performed.
The watch started counting lengths.
Unfortunately, the recognition of swimming styles is still not correct.Perhaps you also need to send your watch in for service?

@pavel.samokha hi, any time frame when the Ocean follows up with the update?
-
@Sascha-Domres testing for the Ocean is still going on
-
For the last week or so I have been experiencing problems with my SR syncing.
Every morning it gets stuck syncing activities and I have to restart the phone to get it to sync properly.
After restarting I notice that many times the watch stopped syncing automatically the previous afternoon or noon.
-
me too. I just post this in the race s sub part of the forum.
restarting the phone solves it intermediate?edit: restarting the phone solves it.
have send logs to suunto -

WiFi connection stability improved
“great” fix - i understand what do you mean “connection stability” - on suunto vertical WiFi doesn’t ON - it always OFF. Suunto App for iOS - can’t activate WiFi on watch. After contacting with your support - one recommend - downgrade firmware. Fix this issue, please!
-
@andry_ua Sorry, can’t understand the issue.
You can’t connect your watch to WiFi?
If you follow this guide https://www.suunto.com/Support/faq-articles/suunto-app/how-can-i-download-offline-maps-to-my-suunto-watch/ at what stage you have an issue?
-
@pavel.samokha
Current bug of 2.40.38 where the watch (es) wifi toggle is stucked at its status before the update.
If it was on, it is on and can’t toggle off, and vice versa. The second case is the worst because you can’t activate WiFi.
Someone here explained that hard reset is fixing the issue. -
@Mff73 I was me. WiFi was never activated although toggle was on. Soft reset didn’t work (tried 3 times)
Finally hard reset make it work -
-
OK, issue was partially known but maybe not exactly in this form. I reported it. This is all what I can do at this point.
@andry_ua if your issue is like discussed above the only option for now is to do hard reset (“Reset All Settings”). Sorry for inconvenience.
-
thanks! I’ll try
-
reset data - helped resolve this issue. thanks again

Did “Chores” today just for fun and giggles and I must say, I’m impressed. I fully expected to have just a dummy activity with that name, but Suunto has actually put some thoughts into this. First you have to make the decision inside / outside - I guess that is a GPS no or yes - and then you even get laps and calories burned. And in the Suunto app you get a “flexibility” label. Well done…
