Did support forget about 9pp software issues?

@timecode Hi timecode, thanks for sharing your problems with your suunto watch. Can I ask you to update us if you managed to solve the problem after sending the watch for service? thank you
-
@timecode this is a good idea. If the backlight is off (S9PP has two switches for backlight), then this seems more to be an individual case instead of a general firmware issue.
Let’s see what they find. -

@t-Dox the watch is back. Suunto has replaced the battery, so let’s see what happens next. What is more concerning is that the watch now has some bubbles under the display’s outer black ring. I am certain they were not there when I left the watch in the shop. My frustration sadly continues… Not sure if I should send it back or what.

@timecode Hi timecode! thank you so much for the update, you are really kind. I cross my fingers with you that now the battery lasts as long as Suunto says. I had sent the watch for assistance more than a year ago, not only for the battery but also for the HR sensor. I honestly do not know if they had replaced some component including the sensor, or the entire watch, because the only signs were on the sensor and in fact the one that was returned to me had a new sensor. In the last few weeks I have noticed that the screen of my watch now has some slight problems when I use the lower button (a bit like the effect that was had with liquid crystal screens when they were pressed). However I do not know whether to send it back for assistance. I certainly cannot consider my experience positive either.
in any case thanks again -
@Egika yeah, maybe you are right, and we are only a few to have these problems … I hope so for all the other owners of this watch. In any case I also have the backlight always off, I also removed the wrist movement sensor (immediately) and sound/vibrations. I just keep every sensor (hr, spo2,…) active 24/7 (and no alarms)

@t-Dox I have sent the watch back today to the service because of the dots / bubbles under the display. But when I got the watch back on tuesday I was told to go through some cycles (discharge and charge it) over a month and a half, that the watch has battery management, etc. Honestly it was just sitting on my desk from Tuesday 3PM until this morning and the battery went from 57% to 7% doing nothing. I will wait for feedback regarding the display and then I am just going to sell it, or put it into my drawer. My wife was using it, but I got her a new Race S and so far she is happy with it.

@timecode Hi! sorry again for the inconvenience. But did you have to pay for the battery replacement? If so, how much? because I was thinking of sending my watch in for service too, but not if I have to pay, since I didn’t damage the watch but it’s a manufacturing problem. Or was your watch still under warranty? thanks in advance
-
@t-Dox Hey! The watch was still under warranty, I would write to support if I were you and ask about the replacement. Maybe they can do it free of charge, I have heard about such cases. But to be honest it didn’t help much. The watch is just sitting on my desk and loosing 15-20% every day. I was told I should wait for the battery management to recalibrate itself (or something like that), but I don’t see any improvements at all.

@timecode hello timecode, thank you very much! yes i agree, i don’t think i can depend much on the battery management algorithm either… we’ll see what the future holds, in the meantime, have a good life
