Hello everyone, I’m sorry to have to open this post but the 9pp has been having major software problems for almost 6 months… I don’t understand if this choice is the result of some internal decision at Suunto, but I find this endless wait unacceptable. Do Suunto support plan to do something about it? Or do you think your customers will remain such forever?
I am shocked by the lack of seriousness shown by Suunto

@t-Dox I’ll give my bet that any important issues are going to be addressed in the next major firmware release.

Update: I installed the latest firmware yesterday and am testing it. Fingers crossed

Unfortunately the battery life has not improved after the update. It still barely gets to 4-5 days of autonomy, against the 21 declared by Suunto. I think that the battery life has been affected by the increase in the HR sensor readings, which at the beginning, even though active 24/7, seemed to me to happen once a minute. However, I still can’t understand why Suunto continues to declare 21 days as the battery life of this 9pp.

@t-Dox I tracked after this update (see below) and I got the equivalent of 10% a day, sleep tracking and daily HR on, notifications on, brightness low, raise to wake off, ~45 mins a day activity, so ten days of charge. So obviously not 21 days, but daily HR is on so no chance of that, but much better than 4-5.

              11:34 - 77% 31/3
              09:12 - 19% 06/04
              08:10 - 8% 07/04

I do have the feeling it is worse than when I had it a year and a half ago for sure though.

Adding my voice here, my 9PP battery life is really not great since…a very long time…tried multiple “fulldischarge/full charge”, soft resets, hard resets…
It kills the main benefit of this watch, it’s really sad.
No bugs other than that on my end, sleep tracking is good, daily HR is good, all new shiny functions are working as expected, and my OHR didn’t bubble up this time (after the second replacement…)…but battery life, the main stuff advertised by Suunto, is really subpar right now.

Just one little bug fix guys, please

I find it fascinating that some devices are back to normal with the latest update, while the others don’t. I did some tests with a couple of exercises, and I’m getting average 40+ hours of workout time estimated, while it was half of that in the previous (buggy) version.

Sorry to hear these bad feedback but, from my side, the latest firmware update is a good one or, at least, better than the previous ones.

Last Sunday (31/03) I’ve fully charged my watch after its updating some days before (done the soft reset after the update): today, with 12[h]+ of activities with GPS (no navigation, GPS always in performance mode, ZoneSense app on), HR and sleep tracking 24/7 and Bluetooth connections only to synchronize the data, I have still 44% of battery left.

As reference, before the latest firmware, I was recharging the watch more or less every 6/7 days.

@t-Dox same here. No improvement after the last update, still loosing 20% a day. I am sending it to Suunto tomorrow. No idea what else to do.

@timecode Hi timecode, thanks for sharing your problems with your suunto watch. Can I ask you to update us if you managed to solve the problem after sending the watch for service? thank you

@timecode this is a good idea. If the backlight is off (S9PP has two switches for backlight), then this seems more to be an individual case instead of a general firmware issue.
                          Let’s see what they find.

t6, S6, Elementum Terra, Ambit 3 Sapphire, Spartan Ultra Copper, Traverse Alpha, S7 Graphite LE, S9B Ambassador, S9P Granite Blue Titanium, S9PP Titanium Sand, Vertical All Black, Race Titanium Charcoal,

@t-Dox the watch is back. Suunto has replaced the battery, so let’s see what happens next. What is more concerning is that the watch now has some bubbles under the display’s outer black ring. I am certain they were not there when I left the watch in the shop. My frustration sadly continues… Not sure if I should send it back or what.

@timecode Hi timecode! thank you so much for the update, you are really kind. I cross my fingers with you that now the battery lasts as long as Suunto says. I had sent the watch for assistance more than a year ago, not only for the battery but also for the HR sensor. I honestly do not know if they had replaced some component including the sensor, or the entire watch, because the only signs were on the sensor and in fact the one that was returned to me had a new sensor. In the last few weeks I have noticed that the screen of my watch now has some slight problems when I use the lower button (a bit like the effect that was had with liquid crystal screens when they were pressed). However I do not know whether to send it back for assistance. I certainly cannot consider my experience positive either.
                                in any case thanks again

@Egika yeah, maybe you are right, and we are only a few to have these problems … I hope so for all the other owners of this watch. In any case I also have the backlight always off, I also removed the wrist movement sensor (immediately) and sound/vibrations. I just keep every sensor (hr, spo2,…) active 24/7 (and no alarms)

@t-Dox I have sent the watch back today to the service because of the dots / bubbles under the display. But when I got the watch back on tuesday I was told to go through some cycles (discharge and charge it) over a month and a half, that the watch has battery management, etc. Honestly it was just sitting on my desk from Tuesday 3PM until this morning and the battery went from 57% to 7% doing nothing. I will wait for feedback regarding the display and then I am just going to sell it, or put it into my drawer. My wife was using it, but I got her a new Race S and so far she is happy with it.

@timecode Hi! sorry again for the inconvenience. But did you have to pay for the battery replacement? If so, how much? because I was thinking of sending my watch in for service too, but not if I have to pay, since I didn’t damage the watch but it’s a manufacturing problem. Or was your watch still under warranty? thanks in advance

@t-Dox Hey! The watch was still under warranty, I would write to support if I were you and ask about the replacement. Maybe they can do it free of charge, I have heard about such cases. But to be honest it didn’t help much. The watch is just sitting on my desk and loosing 15-20% every day. I was told I should wait for the battery management to recalibrate itself (or something like that), but I don’t see any improvements at all.
