Suunto Vertical 2 General Discussion
-
Comparison of two cycling commutes. These are two activities with almost the same speed and effort, but during the one with OHR I felt more tired. Yesterday’s activity with OHR is shown in red, today’s with the Polar H10 in blue. The average heart rate differs by 11 bpm — OHR probably showed a lower heart rate, but mainly it takes a long time to respond when going uphill. For me, I’ll only use OHR for walking at most. In any case, compared to the Race 1, this is a big improvement.

Does anyone know when the release date for the Vertical 2 is for Canada?
It’s advertised on the Suunto Canada website with price and specs but no information on when it can be purchased. The “Buy Now” button remains greyed out.
Thanks.

I have noticed a few times now that the Suunto app (iOS) does not start syncing and says that the watch is busy, even though the watch only shows the home screen. I then have to go into a menu on the watch and back again, and then it works again.
It’s similar with the shortcuts. I use the upper right button with a long press for the flashlight. This shortcut does not respond when the watch is in this state.
This behavior usually occurs when the watch has not been actively used for a longer time (about an hour or more).
Software version: 2.46.12
Restarting the watch did not help.Has anyone else noticed this?

@tuxbuster yes. this is a known issue.
together with the button lock that can’t be unlocked -
My wife bought me V2 as a surprise. So I’m in the club and I’m curious about the transition from V1.
-
@martintrail What a wife - congratulations

I’ve just switched from a Garmin Forerunner 265 to the Suunto Vertical 2. I really like the Vertical, and the Suunto ecosystem is much more intuitive and informative!
The only thing that annoys me is that the watch never disconnects from Bluetooth, even when I put it in flight mode. I still receive notifications, and it keeps syncing with my phone all the time. How do you completely disconnect it from the phone? I’ve tried restarting the watch. Any suggestions?

Hey all! I am tempted to upgrade from s9pp to V2. Really like the fact that i can see a lot of data on watchface without turning on or even move wrist to display all that info. I also fond watch more attractive to look at since it is not only black screen.
Anyone upgrading from mip find amoled annoying as edc watch? -
@krakra I upgraded from 9P to RaceS. As a watch the AMOLED Display works quite good in Always On Mose. Only in bright Sunlight you need to wake it, but it has a light sensor.
The problem is more during activities, where Lift to wake takes some time and the AOD display is too dim during the day. But if you are running before sunrise and after sunset the AMOLED Display wins easily -

apparently there are two “flight modes”.
one you access from the control panel -> does not stop BT
and one you access from setting -> communication -> stops BT -
@krakra I have the V2 from V1. In everyday use the V2 is fantastic. Clear, bright and with colour. Looking at the V1 after the V2 makes the V1 look very old…
However when cycling the MIPs is far superior.
On the V2 with AOD the map still goes dark and isn’t brilliant to read. I haven’t tried it walking yet but imagine it will be brilliant for that as you raise your to wrist to view.
Initial reaction to the V2 was too send it back with the cycling performance after a few days as an everyday watch I wouldn’t want to go back to the V1… I do have a bike computer from wahoo so the comparatively poor performance on the bike isn’t a big deal.

Any chance to demonstrate how dim modes work in navigation activity mode?

@Egika Oh ! that explains a lot ! Is it planned for future bugfixes ?
-
@Elipsus It´s intended design by Suunto as I read somewhere…
I can´t understand that.
-
@Elipsus don’t know if this will change. At least this is pretty unintuitive.
reported it to Suunto -
@Jan-Suchánek that sounds a lot like a bug that was “feature-ed” to avoid making changes (I know what I’m talking about, i’m a product engineer ^^)

@Antoine-Lancrenon
after a week of reflexion, and since my solar harvest V1 is not working anymore (hardware issue, only the solar charging is out) and I am adove the 2 years warranty, i was thinking to upgrade. As a “normal” user of the v1, it makes not really sence to upgrade to the v2. i dont care about the oled, i care about battery much more as a hicker and ultra runner.
I am an outdoor man and do use the torch of my v1 (with. the screen) it is pretty poor in comparison with the dedicated led of the V2, this is thenonly point really where i want to upgrade.
may be the improved accuracy of the HR? but i am happy with wath I got with v1, true with issues.I think Ill stick with the V1 until the v3 is out… what about you v1 owners, why are you upgrading really here?
*we loose the mip
*we loose a significant battery longevity on different conditions
*no configurable battery management
*no solar
