I’ve just switched from a Garmin Forerunner 265 to the Suunto Vertical 2. I really like the Vertical, and the Suunto ecosystem is much more intuitive and informative!

The only thing that annoys me is that the watch never disconnects from Bluetooth, even when I put it in flight mode. I still receive notifications, and it keeps syncing with my phone all the time. How do you completely disconnect it from the phone? I’ve tried restarting the watch. Any suggestions?

apparently there are two “flight modes”.
one you access from the control panel -> does not stop BT
and one you access from setting -> communication -> stops BT

@krakra I have the V2 from V1. In everyday use the V2 is fantastic. Clear, bright and with colour. Looking at the V1 after the V2 makes the V1 look very old…

However when cycling the MIPs is far superior.

On the V2 with AOD the map still goes dark and isn’t brilliant to read. I haven’t tried it walking yet but imagine it will be brilliant for that as you raise your to wrist to view.

Initial reaction to the V2 was too send it back with the cycling performance after a few days as an everyday watch I wouldn’t want to go back to the V1… I do have a bike computer from wahoo so the comparatively poor performance on the bike isn’t a big deal.

Any chance to demonstrate how dim modes work in navigation activity mode?

                @Elipsus It´s intended design by Suunto as I read somewhere… 👎 I can´t understand that.

@Elipsus don’t know if this will change. At least this is pretty unintuitive.

@Jan-Suchánek that sounds a lot like a bug that was “feature-ed” to avoid making changes (I know what I’m talking about, i’m a product engineer ^^)

                      @Antoine-Lancrenon
after a week of reflexion, and since my solar harvest V1 is not working anymore (hardware issue, only the solar charging is out) and I am adove the 2 years warranty, i was thinking to upgrade.

As a “normal” user of the v1, it makes not really sence to upgrade to the v2. i dont care about the oled, i care about battery much more as a hicker and ultra runner.
I am an outdoor man and do use the torch of my v1 (with. the screen) it is pretty poor in comparison with the dedicated led of the V2, this is thenonly point really where i want to upgrade.
may be the improved accuracy of the HR? but i am happy with wath I got with v1, true with issues.

I think Ill stick with the V1 until the v3 is out… what about you v1 owners, why are you upgrading really here?

                      *we loose the mip
*we loose a significant battery longevity on different conditions
                      *no configurable battery management
                      *no solar

                        @Antoine-Lancrenon

I much prefer the V2 screen for every day use.

The watch faces come to life. And the face in reality looks a lot bigger for my ageing eyes as there is no solar bevel.
                        Battery life is still excellent.

The upgrade is minimal but for me worth it. But I totally understand skipping a generation of watches. It is the logical thing to do!

One area I don’t like on the V2 is the bike performance when on the handlebars. V1 is better.

Owe yes, the torch is great 😃

If I choose Athletics watchface with Display settings (brightness low, AOD off, raise to wake - full wake mode) and I lock the watch (bottom button) after some time watch cannot be unlocked. Top button reset helps. If I choose raise to wake - Display only there is no issue.

@Egika Is this a bug or an intentionally designed feature?

Sometimes my Vertical 2 turns off the HR sensor until I take it off and put it back on my wrist. This creates problems reading parameters, especially sleep tracking.
I did a factory reset but it didn’t solve the issue.
The firmware is updated to the latest version.

Don’t like the concept of V2.
For me It’s not differ so much from the race 2…

The spirit of V1 was with a huge autonomie.
That’s clear the the solar panel bring not so much.
But a watch better sensor, and same autonomy, and a bigger screen readable (with mip technology) by hiking for a long time would be welcome.
                                Worse autonomy/performance for a gadget screen… sad.

Would suggest that suunto make a M version of the V2 with mip screen…

It has happened on v1 so I assume it could be firmware related

After 11 days of using V2, OHR, sleep tracking, some GPS activities I got 42% left. Race 1 was charged 1 day after V2, rebooted, everything turned off, just laying on the shelf and also has 42% left…
I don’t know, where Suunto get these numbers. If the discharge rate will stay same, it will last 19 days, but my guess is 15-17 days. OK, it´s UP TO, but even with 19 days it´s 27% less with only one wake per day :-).

When will Suunto add the “Vertical 2” section to support, to at least have a record of updates and their contents?
My Vertical 2 has fw: 2.46.12 but what updates and fixes does it contain?
                                        On the support site:
Vertical 1 shows 2.44.52 with release notes
                                        Race 2 has no information
Race 1 is nowhere to be found…

I got 13 days with 21% battery left. I have to admit I didn’t expect so good battery life. I had 7h of training with GPS and one hour indoor stretching. AOD off(wrist to wake low) OHR, HRV and sleeptracking on 24/7.

Few things to compare V1 to V2 from casual user point of view:
GPS on both are on same level.
OHR I have tested only on walking and daily use. Both seems to work for me without big difference (no head to head comparison).

Sleep tracking is ok. I have few short nights with V2 as it marked few hours after going to sleep as nap. Todays real nap was spot on.

V2 is more comfortable on wrist. It feels lighter than V1. Might be also because of new wrist band. I tried it also on V1 and it made watch sit better on wrist. Material is more silky, not sticky like V1’s original.

Screen is bigger and more sharp. I had my doubts about Amoled being too ”smartwatch” like. I’ve grown to like it now. I miss MIPS always on kind of display but wrist movement starts the screen fast enough to see time. Playing around with screen on do have quite of impact to battery life. This was no problem with V1. Both have good screens for different purpose. I haven’t test it yet with bike so no comment on that.

If I was to plan long hiking or multiday trip I would take V1 just because it makes same things as V2 without worrying about battery life. V2 is more versatile with better health tracking. Both are great watches with slightly different purpose.
                                          Sorry for long post🙂

Why sometimes when I run and have for example 141 heart rate (AVG for current lap) I see that I’m on late green zone next time late yellow don’t understand that. Those 5 sections based on the settings which I have should show only heart rate (not zone sense, peace etc)

                                            Kind regards,
