To expand on FIT SDK supported sport profiles, here is what I see in a recent version of SDK. These are sports that could theoretically be supported by Suunto of they care about third party compatibility, which they should.

There are a few sub-sports that can be combined with the above sports. For example “running” can be combined with “treadmill”, “trail”, etc. As another example, “fitness_equipment” could be combined with “stair_climbing” - that is something that was mentioned earlier in this thread. @sky-runner and to expand on this there are even sub types. So, an activity tracked as commute could be registered as commute sub type.

I’m missing native integration with my Concept2/PM5 rower so I can use the rowing activity profile and get precise metrics.

                          @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos

                          I’m currently using a Suunto Vertical1 and Race 2.
Personally, I miss the functionality of underwater swimming in a pool using apnea.
It’s similar to freediving, but for distance, not depth.
I supplement my activity with “snorkeling,” but it’s not the same.

Depending on the equipment used, there are three main categories:

DYN (Dynamic with Monofin) – dynamic with a monofin.
DYNB (Dynamic with Bi-fins) – dynamic with double fins.
DNF (Dynamic No Fins) – dynamic without fins (swimming underwater using a stroke similar to the breaststroke).

For comparison, holding your breath in place (e.g., while lying on the surface of the pool) is called Static Apnea (STA).

What do you think Dimi, can this be added?🙏

@Artus-Diver The monofin version is there: Mermaiding.
How about using this also for other fin options?

It’s not really sports modes that are missing from the Suunto Run but rather compatibility and functions:

                              • Compatibility with the Runna app

                              • The rower mode exists but it’s a shame that we can’t connect the PM5 of the Concept2 to the watch as with Coros.

                              • No running and cycling tests to fill in heart areas, thresholds, FTP.

                              • The function “Climb guidance”

I’ve also used this “Mermaiding” mode, but it’s not what I expected.
I swim (and am learning) using the DYNB (Dynamic with Bi-fins) and DNF (Dynamic No Fins) techniques.
In the “Mermaiding” or “Snorkeling” disciplines, you press start, and it counts the time, depth, and number of dives… but there’s nothing else you can do (in my opinion, they’re the same sports with a different name).

I think advanced freedivers could elaborate more.

I’m a beginner in this area, and for me, the “Mermaiding” or “Snorkeling” activities lack advanced/automatic management of surface intervals and heart rate for recovery.

                                Example:

                                1. I free-swim for 50 meters (a distance, near the bottom of a swimming pool),
                                • the time of the “dive” is measured,
                                • depth,
                                • heart rate (minimum/maximum),
                                • the number of underwater strokes,
                                • the number of the next free-swim (if the dive is consecutive),
                                • maybe even saturation, but I’m not sure if this is a good indicator and wouldn’t it be better if it were measured during recovery?
                                1. I stop after 50 meters and press the “LAP” button. From that moment on, recovery time should be measured/estimated based on the underwater time and the current heart rate.

It would be helpful if the swimmer/diver could set an alarm for:

                                • reaching the minimum heart rate (manually set),
                                • reaching the manually set surface interval time,

Maybe add the “Breathing” function available in Suunto Plus for more effective recovery?

After reaching the designated surface interval time or the set minimum heart rate, the next dive begins.

                                1. The next step is to dive again as in step 1.

this sounds more like the function of an S+ app, than a sport mode to me.
