Suunto Race 3S General Discussion
-
@Set_218 there is no legal way for you to get music from Spotify and export it outside Spotify itself
-
@Set_218 You can’t. You need your own DRM-free MP3/M4A files, meaning files you’ve purchased. MP3/M4A files downloaded for offline listening through subscription services won’t work.

@Steven-Hambleton Oh man I have so many disagreements with this guy doing review. I guess it is super subjective.
-
@aiv4r What do you mean? Just watched the video and mostly he is stating facts. Price, specifications and his own test results. I found it very interesting
-
@VoiGAS I mostly disagree on parts where he says “It is subjective opinion” about how he likes his watch and app, I like it way different. (for example “action button”, the app experience, strength training part in Coros, feel on hand, microphone and some other things )
Another thing he is comparing Coros map with Suunto “light map” at least he should try to use “high contrast” on Suunto also to have similar comparison. -
Another thing he is comparing Coros map with Suunto “light map”
I agree with him that Suunto maps lack contrast, especially rendering of trails. In both light and dark modes trails are often rendered as green on green so the contrast isn’t great. I use the hight contrast mode most of the time but it lacks other details and even it isn’t optimally high contrast because light grey color is used for the map elements rather than white. When I zoom out to 500 ft and 0.2 mi zoom levels trails become too thin and are difficult to see even on high contrast map. And I don’t even mention that with a Coros map I’d get a larger radius of visibility of trails.

@dani_degi Q4 2026, and R3S does not have a new HR algorithm, it has a new hardware sensor
now its Q4

whene come new updates in germany ?
-
@dani_degi the only thing I can tell you is that the R3S features not requiring new hardware will be part of the new firmware for Race, Race S, Race 2, and Vertical 2. Race and Race S get everything the others get, provided they have enough resources for that.
Other than that, Q4 firmware has many new features, but those cannot be disclosed until release.

@elbee I dont believe Liesheng will come up with another Suunto MiP watch. Their last MiP was the V1. Still, I believe that there are considerable amount of users who’ll buy it just for the MiP.
No idea either about a stainless steel version. I’m not affiliated with Suunto, so I can only guess. -
@Highlands totally go with you. A MIP Display in a Vertical 3 would be the best. I have amoled watch, too but i love the very Long battery use with the solar
-
@GiPFELKiND me too!!
-
Hi,
I don’t know if you can share this information or not? I am curious to know what new hardware the R3S has that the race 2 and vertical 2 do not have which would prevent them from downloading music for playback.
Thanks

The users who want mips are loud, but definitely not with a lot. Or even an considerable amount.
If you read on fora, people are more interested in looks and new watch faces than potential benefits of a mip display.

@elbee https://forum.suunto.com/topic/14971/is-there-still-demand-for-a-modern-mip-endurance-watch?_=1792498789119 Reminded me of this survey we had here on the forum
I would say demand is still there. -
@elbee I’m prone to believe that the majority of Suunto users prefer MiP. Also, take a look at Coros - Nomad and Apex 4 are MiP. Garmin removed MiP from 8 pro series only to put it back in F9 series; not long ago they launched Enduro 4 series, they still sell a MiP version of Instinct 3.
To me this proves there’s still market for MiP regardless which group is more or less vocal about it. -
@elbee but that is a flawed logic. There is also a lot more people that use sport watch to count steps and bike to work occasionally. That does not mean Suunto should remove something that only average athletes use. It depends on how you position yourself in a market. Suunto could have a position in a market where one watch model is MIP ( I vote for Vertical ).
