Suunto Race 3S General Discussion

about 8 hours ago*@dani_degi the only thing I can tell you is that the R3S features not requiring new hardware will be part of the new firmware for Race, Race S, Race 2, and Vertical 2. Race and Race S get everything the others get, provided they have enough resources for that.
Other than that, Q4 firmware has many new features, but those cannot be disclosed until release.*
Anything new for us ‘old Race’ owners? Not necessary, just interested

@raven Does “I’m prone believe” means “I’m sure 100% that this is true.”?
And answered why I’m proned to believing so.
Also, I replied to that I never said that in my mind Suunto should make only MiP watches. This is the place where you put words in my mouth. Again, next to the amoled I want to see a MiP version as well even though I believe after V1 Suunto are done with MiP. -
”My impression, and again, let me ask this as a question, so to not put words in your mouth, is “do you think that Suunto making mostly AMOLED models is not due to customer preference but instead technical concerns?” That is, it’s because not enough MiP being made? But why are there less MiP being made if that’s what the majority of Suunto people want?”
Man, you totally don’t read what I write, do you? Read again please that part of post where I mentioned Pavel’s post and you’ll have your answer.

Again, next to the amoled I want to see a MiP version as well even though I believe after V1 Suunto are done with MiP.I didn’t say you thought Suunto should make only MiP watches, I asked you if that’s what you thought. You said no. My question was answered.
I actually still don’t know why you’re “prone to believe the majority of Suunto users want MiP,” but likely I missed something in your previous replies, and honestly, no longer care, as you seem more intent on having fights with me than reasonable conversation. I suppose others were right in other threads; most of humanity, including myself, needs simple words and dumbed down concepts, I suppose.

Honestly, you missed lots of things. Let’s start from here. I’ve never said Suunto should make more amoled or more MiP, I wrote I believe that that MiPs days are numbered due to the reasons that Pavel mentions in his post. Is it clearer now? Liesheng does have management and they decide what they’ll do, not some random users on the forum.
A few posts above someone posted a link with voting MiP vs. amoled. Check it out, please.

@wakarimasen sure, Race is actively developed and has the same firmware as Race 2 and Vertical 2. Less resources means that some features are missing, like only 2 S+ apps, but everything that can works and does not slow down the watch too much is there.

Thank you for the fast reply!

The Suunto Race 2 and the Vertical 2 measure heart rate continuously while at rest. This is not the case with the new Race 3S; the green LEDs are almost always off. It seems that this smaller model uses a 5-minute measurement interval instead of continuous monitoring—likely to make the battery life look better on paper. Any infos about this??? There is definitely No continous heart rate measurenent.
-
@GiPFELKiND yes that is the case (at least for the current firmware) in daily mode. And it still gives the same results as Race 2 or Vertical 2 during sleep

-
@isazi okay. Thanks for clairify. Will this be changed in the future?
-
@GiPFELKiND no idea
-
@MikeC30 I’d like to know this too given the same processor now powers the Race 2, Vertical 2 and Race 3S.
-
I’ve just received my watch. First impression: despite its larger size, it’s much more comfortable than my S9PP on my small wrist (just under 15 cm). That was one of my top criteria—and my main concern! So I can try it!

Any leaks about configuration backup or migration feature ?
Setting up again all switches, updating watchfaces and configuring sports again is not a fun
I was asked about it in new feature questionnaire so many times…
-
@Steven-Hambleton
Are we sure the processors are identical? Same amount of memory and running at the same clock frequency?I could see the logic in introducing a 3S. It would be a clear upgrade to my old Race S.
I have more difficulty in seeing the value in a new Race 3 with the same hardware as Race 2? Having recently bought a Race 2 when I tired off waiting for the Race 2S, I cannot see a compelling argument for upgrading again?

ye ok but why the R2 Sensor have always the Green Light on to the skin…
what ist difference to R3S ? reduce battery ?

hast du die neue R3 schon im test ?
da sist ja komisch … .ja das Grüne Licht unten im Sensor ist dauerhaft an bei meiner R2 auch
-
@isazi do you know if the Race 3 and Vertical 3 are going to have the same limitation of heart rate readings every 5 minutes in daily mode? Im not sure how I feel about that.
-
@blur457 I cannot comment on watches I do not know.
-
