      @athinakap30

I don’t think there will be fixes for the big problems I encounter and I think it’s a serious possibility that there will be no update for the race s at all.

Given that the bluetooth problem exists for over 10 months and for over 6 months Suunto support promises me to keep me up to date and I haven’t heard a thing, I can only conclude there is no development there at all. Even if I ask about the bluetooth fix for the run 2 that is recently released, Suunto support says there is no information that that fix will come to the race s.

Suunto support said about the battery problems that they have no knowledge about battery problems nor the indication that people experience battery problems. So no development there.

And recently I discovered that the overview of connected services in the Suunto app isn’t complete. I know for sure the app of my insurance company is connected, but it’s not on the list. Also, If I try to disconnect something like RunGab, that’s not possible, although Suunto support said clicking the disconnect button from the overview should disconnect. My simple question if they are sure it should work that way is still in limbo for almost 2 weeks now. (I understand they might need some more time to find out why not all connected services are in the list). Again Suunto support promised to keep me up to date and again I don’t hear a thing.

All in all, I don’t think there is much going on in fixing bugs.

Luckily for me, I found out that regularly rebooting my watch (as in after every time I charged, so at least once a week) help me mitigate the bluetooth problem and battery problem.

This made my day “For the race 2 any bets on when it’ll happen?!? I’m predicting November 18th before GTAVI comes out and all the devs disappear into the night again to play the game”

@André-Faria cannot say the date for sure, but I guess they are not that far from the truth 😉

@athinakap30 This is a very long-awaited request for a battery issue, but engineers are busy developing more buggy things than giving a solution to a very important issue like the battery.

Such important issues must taken care as soon as possible and rathing users keep waiting endlesses.

@withManish I guess this is partly due to the demands of the majority of the customers, more and more functions that we really don’t need but wants.
The more functions the less stability.

This certainly a point worth noting. If you read feature requests here on the forum, a lot come basically to “please add more complexity to the watch”

But the other side: a software development team that cannot release a firmware on a steady base are… incapable, to say it kindly.

@Richard-Thygesen, I agree with you; there is nothing wrong with additional functions, but why not a modular system rather than pushing everything to all? You have a more buggy system and unhappy customers.

@Richard-Thygesen That is where the software development team manager comes into the picture. Rather than adding every request or function, make sure your team verifies that it is truly needed, can work with the hardware, and doesn’t affect core functions, including the battery.

People can ask for the moon and Mars distance during a workout; that does not mean you have to add those too. First, see what your hardware is capable of doing and add functions accordingly, not a list of everything to please everyone. They really don’t want to work on fine-tune software, but make it more buggy.

In the past, I had asked a few questions about limitations on customisation; the reply was that those aren’t possible because that’s how it is designed to work for full battery performance, and I never understood what the issue was when older watches allowed everything and still performed.

Suunto must understand that they don’t need to compete with Apple or other lifestyle devices; they are best at what they do, and people buy them because of that. I don’t see any need for a touchscreen, and it doesn’t function in any way like an Apple Watch at all. If I need touch function, I will go with Apple, not Suunto.

@withManish I do want touch for maps. Besides maps I can live without - I even set my Garmin devices that way…

I use touch for scrolling in lists and menus. But that’s also because the digital crown isn’t the best to operate for scrolling (I cannot easily operate it with 1 finger). Garmin’s 5 button layout is more convenient than a digital crown but touch is still faster.
I do use the digital crown in maps for zooming. Somehow that works better than zooming on a garmin, but that’s because garmins zoom implementation is inconvenient and buggy.

@2b2bff I agree it might be useful for some functions, but overall it isn’t useful. And the map function isn’t that great either. If your device’s battery performance is uncertain and you cannot read place names on the map. You don’t want to go to a remote place where you can’t charge your watch. I tried a few times to use the map to navigate, but it never worked for me.

Downloading/Deleting maps is a hell-tough job; Wi-Fi performance is too poor. A 1 GB map takes an hour or more; you also have to keep the watch almost on the router, and deleting takes way too long.

Firmware updates occur automatically even if you have disabled that function (that’s where my issues started after an automatic update).

I can make a big list of basic failures. But when no one is there to listen, why waste energy? It is our mistake to be loyal to brands that were great in the past, and now they make us paid beta testers: we pay for products and keep testing them.

                              Sorry for the long post.
