I will never buy another Suunto watch until Suunto brings all missing features to Suunto 9. Suunto 9 is capable of having all those features. End of story.
Looks at Suunto “ULTRA” on wrist and weeps
lOOOL
I’m the person who bought ULTRA and 9 baro!
I can’t believe they just replied bullshit twice…

oops, it seems only the flagship watch has no Fitness features right?
have you guys regretted buying a Suunto 9 ?
Here I disagree, I think they are for different purposes. Suunto 9 is not intended for fitness. I prefer having more mountain features than fitness. Some of us do not care about fitness at all.
Thanks for your message,
I don’t get your logic,
if some of us do not care about swimming so we delete?
Such egoism? The flagship generally get all features, it’s users who decided which to use.
Egoism? Why you said that? Do not patronize me for some posts or without knowing me.
Maybe I haven’t explain myself clearly. When you buy your watch, at list I do, you read the features and if it suits you or not. Suunto product line has the S3 for fitness and the S9 has never been intended for fitness, another thing is that you would like to have the features, but it is your desire not what Suunto was offering to you when you bought it.
I have a SSU, and I bought it thinking in running, trail running and routes. When I bought it, if I also would have wanted fitness features Suunto wasn’t my brand, I would have had to look elsewhere.
Now, with this S5, Suunto seems that is giving a reasonable outdoors watch with fitness features, so people will have more options.
What I mean is that I do not get why people complain for the features of something that you have bought freely. You can complain about the quality, the software not working properly, how are implemented some things, complain about some update that kills functions,… but not about some features that you do not have and nobody have said to you that you will have. This is like to complain why your car doesn’t have 200 hp when you bought it with 100 hp.Suunto is not killing features depending on the model, if the hardware permits it you have all the software features (except for the licensed features), Suunto is not Garmin and does not need to be.
-
I think this model is non Baro.
I can’t see no hole on this picI think the hole will be in the other side (if it has baro), where the two buttons are, I think is where the ambit 3 peak has it. I has and Ambit 3 vertical and the hole was in the upper part (the strap has a cut to not block it).

@cosmecosta I do not share your analysis or your comparison. If the S5 has to embark more functionality than the S9 for a lower price it is quite normal that the owners of S9 feel aggrieved. This is not just a story of functionality provided at the base, it is resentment of the brand … Sunnto pays his (bad?) Choice. there is a lot of mistrust in relations with his community. The products are good, but whoever today buys a Suunto will feel frustrated with the competition, because it is undeniable that they are late. They have to generate revenue, so to launch new product, but we must not forget that the brand is marginal, with respect to Garmin for example, so we are the users, the best embassadors. How many of us thought that the Spartan range would be superior to the Ambit range? For the price of the watch! Ditto for the S9, ditto for the application … Unless Suunto targets a niche market, then there is no problem but it must be faultless on embedded technologies in watches and demonstrate that the price is justified, but again Sunnto is average, neither more nor less.

@cosmecosta
On Ambit3 Peak, the hole of Baro are on the top of the inside face. -

No,

I don’t read the motherfuxer features liste, for electronic devices, I only buy the flagship objects.
-

-

Why a S9 owner can feel aggrieved for not having fitness features if never have been advertised? I bought my SSU one month before the S9 was announced, can I feel aggrieved because nobody has told me anything (I would have waited and bought the S9)?. I do not like it but this is how the the market works.
Companies launch products that have been previously developed (usually some years) and some times do not suit our desires or time frames, or sometimes the companies miss the reality of the market, get lost and need time to return to the correct place.
In my opinion we can complain to Suunto that they are not delivering an app that has the same features than the MC, that we still do not know if we will have Web interface, etc. I would complain if none of the products have a feature and later on they add the feature in some watches but not in others, but regarding fitness, S3 has firstbeat features out of the box, not S9. And do not get me wrong, if they add features to my SSU all of them will be welcomed (I prefer if they are outdoors as the watch was adverstised for outdoors).
In Europe you have, at least, two weeks to return a product if you do not like it, so you can return it if you consider that lacks features. -
If you check spefications, Altimeters section, it says *Combined GPS and barometric altimeter (FusedAlti ).

@dulko79 You are right, must have missed this!

So, my problem with Suunto fitness - not fitness watches consists of following. I first bought S3F, I liked fitness stuff but I really missed GPS and outdoor stuff. Then I bought S9B which is awesome, but it lacked fitness stuff. Not to mention that at the time Suunto app was almost unusable, but I wanted to stay with Suunto as a brand. I’m not a ultra runner, just a regular person who likes outdoors, mountains, trail running, but also gym, tracking my fitness progress, etc. I love suunto for their quality and at the time that I bought S9 I didn’t have other future proof option. Now they release S5, which has both outdoor and fitness features. Watch which is probably more usable to a person who is not a pro. S9 just doesn’t look that better for a regular person than S5. It is still a better build and materials, but S5 looks like a better deal, to me at least. S9 supports all of the fitness and outdoor things, and as a flagship that costs a lot of money should have them. Just give us options to turn features that we don’t need on or off.

As you have said in another post, go an buy a Garmin.
If you do not understand that the comparison wasn’t in the car that was in the features is not my problem or you could say that you do not understand it and will try to make it simpler. I’ve tried to have a constructive discussion.
BTW forget about me, don’t bother to answer me I won’t answer you anymore. -
I’d say no baro, if you compare both 5 (first column) and 9 (second) :
-
correct.
No baro.
If it was Baro that would be in the name. Plus you would see some openings in the housing.
The FusedAlti information is based on someone in the marketing department, who put a wrong checkbox because he don’t know or understand… -
@Egika I compared products on Suunto UK website, old Suunto Spartan Trainer and new Suunto 5. Main differences in Altimeter section are: Combined GPS and barometric altitude (FusedAlti) and Altitude in daily mode. It could be a mistake though…
