Syncing problems Ambit3 with iPhone11
-
@AinaVanteilla im having this exact same issue…gone from iphone7 to iphone11, and not able to sync any moves with the suunto app.
Been on the phone with suunto support this morning, explained id tried the usual un pair and pair etc…just told me that the have moved my issue to a “level 2” and i should wait for an email -
forget watch in App
Forget Ambit/Traverse in iOS settings
Unpair mobile device in Ambit/Traverse
Pair the watch again with app -
@JohanT It’s definitely an iPhone11 problem and not just Suunto as I was on a dive trip last week and there was a guy with an iPhone 11 Pro like mine with exactly the same problem. He also had a Garmin with a similar problem. Old phone worked OK but not the Pro. My Ambit 3P syncs nicely with the app on my iPhone 8 so I am keeping my back-up phone for the app until this gets fixed.
-
I had exactly the same issue before Xmas. Escalated to level 2, went through all possible fixes and then they gave up and told me to send my watch to be fixed. Went back to my IPhone 8 and it worked fine. I met someone last week with the same issue and it seems to be an iPhone 11 compatibility issue with the Ambit 3P. At some point the penny will drop that many people are struggling as more Ambit 3 users upgrade their iPhones.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Why keep on giving the same advice that simply does not work for the iPhone 11?
-
@Cookiemonster Because this is the reply I am getting when I am asking for you and you have not said that you have tried that
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I have tried everything, including Level2 support which did not solve the problem. Then told to return the watch which has worked perfectly for years for repair. Still works with iPhone 8 plus the SA but not the iPhone 11Pro. As far as I can see Suunto don’t seem to be addressing this issue that I suspect will escalate as more people upgrade their iPhones.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i have tried this many times, but still wont sync
-
@Cookiemonster been online to chat to customers support to address the issue with iphone11, the told me they know of the issue, and is not expected to be sorted until april or may!
Im sad to say, that i will be leaving the suunto family, and going for a more reliable watch, to many issues to often -
ouf , I am creating a bug about this…
Again…
I am in contact with the developers, no higher level of support than me
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos said in Activities did not sync. Iphone11:
no higher level of support than me
Hey! Who do you think you are ?!
Easy, man !
-
@sartoric I mean I am trying to help as much as I can here, bypassing support etc. Don’t get me wrong… We can leave this to support and will be delayed and I don’t want that.
Its silly to see some people having an issue with their iphone and ambit. I would be outraged
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Hey I was just kidding.I completely understand
-
@Cookiemonster there must be some new Bluetooth technology on the iPhone 11 that isn’t allowing the Bluetooth on the ambit3 to transfer data. Oh well, first world problems.
-
@JohanT Well, there is some new technology on the bluetooth side in the new iPhones. There are several reported problems since the release of the phones with connection them via Bluetooth in cars, etc.

I have the same problem as well. the connection between my Iphone 11 and my Ambit 3 peak dosent happen. I have also tried as many of you have mentioned to unpair, repair etc. with no sucsess. It seems like its been a long wait until anyone have got a reply or an indication when the issue will be fixed from Suunto. no matter if there is some new tec with bluetooth or not. Suunto still needs solve the issue. the first massage in this tread was written on 30 sep and still no progress.
-
@Klas-Axgärde sure Suunto should work on this, but why Apple can break any protocol and no one complains with them?
-
@isazi agreed. However i dont know if imporving a teconology and moving forward is considered a break of protocol. If Apple now have done updates to their bluetooth i can only guess it was to make it even better and to follow the tec development in general. Here i belive Suunto need to do the same to keep up and not risk to get dated.
-
@Klas-Axgärde nope. Protocols are agreed between parties and can’t be changed unilaterally. If you want to improve things, you work on new versions of standards and protocols, don’t just go your way because you’re bigger than the others.
