Perhaps if posting here we can revive mr SilventVoyager
I can share that the latest FW for the Sony chip on both S9/S5 performs oustanding.
Regarding distance, I always get more than Stryd , road or trail. Personal. But about 0.05-0.15 to A3
Can’t wait.
Are the speed spikes/wobbles also fixed on higher speeds? It got way better in the current firmware, but there is room for improvement as it still fails sometimes -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos always good to hear that new firmware is being tested and its results are promising. Awesome!

I can confirm way @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos as I have been Field-testing the new firmware. We both agree the GPS is much better.
-
Can confirm the latest GPS firmware is a lot better than previous iterations. I’m using Stryd for distance, so not sure about actual distance accuracy. But tracks are a lot cleaner and closer to where I’m actually running.
-
@surfboomerang I have not tested high speeds. Only up to 22km/h that is the fastest j can run.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos let’s hope that this version stays as a release canditate.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I haven’t seen the speed wobbles in my running activities. Only on other profiles. I think it has something to do with a different log algorithm in the running profiles.
-
@surfboomerang we don’t use anything different (algo) between types.
It can be though the way you use your arms
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
like “shocks” from waves and fusedspeed becomes confusedspeed? -
I am ready for an improved GPS (+ ×) software, too.
I a challenging environment (weekdays I am running in Berlin, approx 30% of the route(s) between rather solid and high houses) pure GPS and/or GPS+ Galileo/Glonass are quite often a real disaster and only offering a ‘wobbling’ track. And it does not even help to activate the exercise type and wait for a few minutes after the position has been found(yes, minutes, which currently is not too cozy ) -

Bravo. Better than any Friday deserves.
-
@TELE-HO GPS no. Speed distance yes though Only if GPS is off / lost / bad.
There is also confusedTrack BTW
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Interesting, I was convinced that there is different GPS algo for different sport modes… open water and cycling, for example…
-
@nseslija well I said something wrong.
For cycling/running no diff.
For open water only yes there is a special mode.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos ok, tnx

Can you share this FW? I take all responsibility myself if anything goes wrong.
-
@zvonejan if it was with only the GPS FW updated yes.
Unfortunately it’s debug build and I can’t. Let aside that they check FW versions vs SN

What can I say - if conditions are right, Suunto 5 is spot on. Apparently two layers of longsleeve covering the watch don’t do much if GNSS signal is strong.
But - according to Trimble GNSS Planning there were between 8 and 9 GPS satellites visible and between 6 and 7 Galileo satellites and DOP was very low.
Today’s run with GPS + Galileo:
Open area:
Notice top right path being off - I actually run off the embankment and the track is very accurate and consistent.
Mixed park / open / low buildings:
An old park with plenty of tall trees:

@Łukasz-Szmigiel
S5 BARO should be a killer. -
@Mff73 was hoping that would be the s7. I think a Baro version would kill S9 imo
