    Hey suunto friends

Is there anyone who has feedback on the new suunto 3?

My experience with S3F is, horrible step counts and Cal burn calculation compared to S9 that seems more stable

Anyone using the new S3 who can verify if there has been any kind of change in metrics/calculations?

    Thanks - and happy Friday

@Nhumbug No experience. This kind of watch is more for fitness and gym people. The fact that is not equipped with gnss chipset limits use for outdoor activities. For what i read and listen there are many gadgets in this market. Don’t know the success of watch for Suunto.

It is a cool lightweight watch. But I do not have one.

@Nhumbug I had Suunto 3 Fitness for almost two years. I have now separated from her because the new S3 has no more features and because I can get something better today for the few functions she has. A HuaweiWatch GT2 is also sufficient for fitness purposes, especially since it offers a much better display and various useful functions (GPS, barometer, compass, music, battery life, …) at a better price. Furthermore, eight functions of FirstBeat (see here) are integrated! Nothing for power athletes, but the S3 is not suitable for that either. Significant disadvantages: it’s not a Suunto “Made in Finland” and not compatible with the SuuntoApp ☹ but with Google fit.

                  Okay so…
I’m looking into S3 because of a S3F who has huge issues with stepcount and cal. Calculations

Surfing this forum, it turns out other users don’t have this issue.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos S3F only capturing 50% of steps taken - same time being extreme low on Cal burn (might be for the same reason) Cal burn on activity seems right… Ever heard of it?

@Nhumbug I played with S3F several times past year for a few weeks. I think its step count was fairly close to what you’d get from other trackers.

Can it be that a lot of your steps are fairly short, like 10-15 steps from desk to desk or around kitchen and the like? These are normally filtered by most trackers. So, depending on your activity patterns, you may be more affected than others.

What do you want to know apart from steps count?

I personally like S3F. With some trickery, you can even get running power on it even though it is kind of not supported officially. I think the deal breakers for me had been smaller and kind of dimmer screen compared to S9 and a fairly short battery life of about 3-4 days if you really track exercise on it. For an all-day watch it’s too little. Otherwise, it’s very comfy, very lightweight, has all Firstbeat features from bigger watches, and I feel like its OHR, due to smaller size and flatness on your wrist, is also considerably more stable.

@Nhumbug A beautiful watch that is for fitness. It has an exercise program that was interesting to me. Also control your daily activities 😎
