        Hi,

Quick question, is this watchface available in S9P?

My biggest question after thinking about the watch for a couple of days is, why didn’t they produce an updated version of the Baro with OTA updates and PaO2 sensor. I understand that Suunto clearly has a software trajectory which everyone has different expectations of, but with the production of the Peak the Titanium is relatively obsolete.

good question. I would say they want to reach another, wider group of users. With all the surveys we have received, this must be the essence. In my opinion this watch is the offroader that can go 250km/h and hence meets the requirements for mountaineers as for track and field athletes and you don’t need to change it after you shower put back on the suite and go back to meetings with customers

@freeheeler right, so they basically created a spinoff or just moved the watch in a new direction entirely. I know I’m not necessarily in the majority, but the smaller watchface looks a little ridiculous on my relatively large wrist, so that alone would make the watch one which I could only really wear for exercise. Though, I’m more concerned though that the 9 titanium has essentially baked in obsolescence, which I think was somewhat excusable with the OG, but we’re now three years out from that point. Unless there is another update coming, I just don’t see a reason for the 9 titanium to have been produced other than to move new product. Which, if the case, I guess we should respect the hustle(rs).

One last gripe, this naming system is so stupid. I cannot think of another consumer product which is strictly named numerically. Currently, it’s not an issue, but I would imagine that we should expect biennial updates (considering last year was so weird), and eventually, naming something the Suunto 9 Peak Titanium 2 is just going to be nonsense.

@zrumlow the 9 baro and non baro and the 3,5 are not obsolete. We continue with this collection.

The s9P if it feels small, that’s something to tell you to stay with your 9 😅🤠

@freeheeler That’s exactly why I ordered it. Besides the technical improvements.
I use the watch in all my sports, but also on working days. The S9B is quite thick and doesn’t always fit neatly under the sleeve. I think the S9P meets all my demands, in both technical and fashion way. Although I wouldn’t mind if the diameter had stayed the same and only the thickness was reduced, but I think I can get used to the smaller diameter.

I totally understand this, I would immediately vote for an S9P+, same height, Ø50mm and a bezel with few design details, similat to S9B Titanium and THIS would be my next birthday present 😍

I see @zrumlow 's point. I don’t have small wrists either. I am small, but to scale I would look like a viking 😉 S9B Ti just looks right on my wrist.

And yes, while I don’t have any info and can only tell my impression: I don’t believe S9 will be obsolete any time soon. I believe @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos 👍

it does not appear bulky… at least on my wrist 😉
but in mountain biking, it has the tendency to be a tad branch catchy… and when out in the powder, the velcro strap of my hestra lobster glove is pushed to its limit.
same diameter but a tiny bit flattisher would not hurt my design taste

I think that everybody needs to choose using their needs and their likings. Now we have a newer model with different size, it is good because we have more options. It is normal that the new S9P has new hardware and functions, in fact if it hasn’t we would be talking about the lack of evolution instead of if we like it more or less.

I do have small wrist, when I run I use the 3rd hole of the strap and I do not think that the S9B is big or bulky, in fact I like its size very much but I never tried the S9P so I can’t compare if it is better or not. What It is sure is that I’m not going to buy a new watch when I’m still very satisfied with the S9B and it will have new functions and additions, anyway I’m open to presents from Suunto or other generous users 😜 .

I like that Suunto continues with the development of the S line as it is, and, for me, the longer is the gap between the new models the better, better for the planet, better for a healthier life style (less social pressure to have the last/newer model always), better for our pockets, better for the company in a long term, …

I remember I wanted to buy a new GoreTex shell two years ago, and in one of the review the reviewer said he could not wear it over a S9 baro 🤣
